The Las Vegas Raiders cut ties with another of their first-round picks from the 2020 NFL Draft. After releasing wideout Henry Ruggs last week, the Raiders have now also moved on from corner Damon Arnette.

According to multiple reports, the decision to waive Arnette was made after the second-year player posted a controversial video on his social media. In the clip, the 25-year-old made several serious threats to an unknown individual.

While the team did not acknowledge the move via official announcement, the Raiders’ general manager Mike Mayock confirmed the decision during a conference call with the reporters.

“Very painful decision,” Mayock said via ESPN. “We spent significant time, effort, and resources trying to help him in all aspects of his life.”

The Raiders surprised the majority of the NFL world when they selected Damon Arnette with the 19th pick in 2020. Coming out of Ohio State, Arnette was projected as mid to late selection in the second round.

It turned out that Las Vegas ended up overvaluing Arnette after all, as he never justified his high-draft position. He struggled to stay healthy while failing to make an impact when on the field.

Arnette leaves the Raiders having played 13 games for the franchise while contributing with just 23 tackles and three passes defended.
