Defensive tackle P.J. Hall, who was second round pick in 2018, is a free agent as of Tuesday. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Raiders released Hall after his proposed trade to Minnesota Vikings fell through.

Hall became surplus with Raiders in recent days, and the organization looked for ways to move on from him. Vikings, in need of depth on the defensive line, looked to exploit this offering a conditional seventh-rounder for the player.

However, the trade was nixed after the 25-year-old failed his physical, causing the Raiders to cut him outright.

P.J. Hall played 30 games for Raiders in past two years, even making 12 starts in 2019. Still, Hall failed to produce while on the field, managing only 48 tackles and 1.5 sacks since turning pro. For Raiders, who are looking to return to playoffs, this was simply not good enough.

There is no doubt that Hall will get another chance in the league, considering his standout college career. But, this won’t happen until he gets fully healthy.

Raiders previously signed veteran Maliek Collins in the offseason, and former Dallas Cowboys DT is expected to step up instead of Hall. Collins had 84 tackles and 14.5 sacks between 2016 and 2019.
