Quarterback Brian Hoyer has agreed to a two-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, it was announced on Tuesday. This comes after Hoyer was released by the New England Patriots just prior to the start of free agency.

Hoyer started just one game in 2022 – a Week 4 overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers – after Mac Jones was sidelined after picking up a high ankle sprain the week before. At the end of the second series of the game, however, Hoyer suffered a concussion, thereby bringing his game to an early end. He remained on the Patriots’ injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

Prior to leaving the Patriots, Hoyer had one year remaining on his contract along with $1.4 million in guaranteed money for 2023.

In addition to Hoyer, the Raiders also signed former Patriots player Danny Amendola on Tuesday as coaching assistant/returners. He spent 13 seasons at the Patriots, making 230 catches for 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns during his time there.
