Second-year linebacker Jamir Jones didn’t have to wait for long before landing on a new team after being waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday. Jones was claimed off waiver by the Los Angeles Rams a day later, with the team confirming the transaction on social media.

Jones is expected to improve the depth on LB for the Rams, who recently lost Justin Hollins to a partially torn pec injury.

Jones had an outstanding preseason with the Steelers, recording four sacks and six QB hits. This earned him a spot on the active roster, but the 23-year-old player failed to make a similar impact in the regular season. Notre Dame lined up for 36 snaps on defense in the first three games, managing three tackles and one QB hit.

The Steelers decided that they had seen enough and opted to move on from Jones in order to give other players a chance. They recently promoted outside linebacker Derrek Tuszka from their practice squad to take his place on the roster.

Jamir Jones previously spent time with the Houston Texans, signing with the franchise as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Jones was waived by the Texans during training camp and didn’t play at all last season.
