By the looks of it, LA Rams are not done with spending money in 2020. After handing out big extensions to corner Jalen Ramsey and wideout Cooper Kupp, the Rams are now looking to lock wide receiver Robert Woods on a long-term deal as well.

Rams’ head coach Sean McVay confirmed the plans while speaking with reporters on Thursday,

“We want to get him extended, too. He’s a huge part of what we’re doing. So, that’s something that, I think, is definitely important,” said McVay while speaking about Woods. “You absolutely talk to your players about that.”

According to McVay, Woods can expect a similar deal to one that Kupp recently got. Kupp inked a three-year, $48 million contract extension that pays him $16 million annually.

“Robert (Woods) and Cooper have been pillars of what we’ve done the last few years, and great to be able to get Cooper under contract, so happy for him, and you can expect to see something similar down the line here very shortly we’re working towards for Robert,” he added.

While Robert Woods is signed through 2021, the 28-year-old probably expects a new deal soon, considering that he is paid well below his output.

In the past two years, Woods was the Rams’ most productive wideout, racking 176 receptions for 2,353 yards and eight touchdowns. However, he only averages $6.8 million per year under the terms of his current contract, which doesn’t even put him in the top 20 of the highest-paid receivers in the game.

Rams are now looking to fix this disparity, and this could only do good for them. They will avoid any contract disputes and drama while keeping together a talented wide receiving duo that can carry their offense for years to come.
