Los Angeles Rams have lost patience with their rookie kicker Samuel Sloman. The team announced the release of Sloman on Tuesday, parting ways with the 2020 seventh-round pick after just seven games.

Sloman has been struggling since winning the starting job in training camp. The 23-year-old Miami of Ohio product missed the 29-yarder in Week 1 and then proceeded to miss two more FGs in the next six weeks. He also failed to convert on three extra points in his brief stint with the Rams.

Rams finally had it enough after another lackluster performance in Monday Night Football showdown against Chicago Bears, when Sloman had his FG attempt blocked. It was his second blocked field goal try in 2020.

“It’s a tough situation as a rookie to come in and have some of the pressure that that kicking position entails,” said coach Sean McVay about the move, adding that he hopes Sloman will get another look from NFL teams in the future.

Rams will now turn to veteran Kai Forbath, who was signed to their practice squad last week. Forbath suited up for six different NFL teams in his career and has 86.1 percent conversion on field goals in his career.

The team also added Austin MacGinnis., who previously played in defunct AAF and XFL football leagues, to the practice squad.
