Manchester United has triggered a one-year contract extension for Marcus Rashford, manager Erik ten Hag confirmed.

“Yes, I can confirm it,” Ten Hag said in an interview with the club’s website, adding: “We are happy because the squad is going in the right direction, and those players [have] a massive contribution in that direction. We want to develop, we want to support those players and we want them to keep in our process.”

Having scored three goals for England during the 2022 World Cup, Rashford has been in fine form for both club and country this season. The 25-year-old forward has also contributed four goals and two assists in 14 Premier League appearances for Man Utd, including three match-winning goals in the Red Devils’ victories over Arsenal and Liverpool.

In addition to Rashford, the club also activated contract extensions for full-backs Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw as well as central midfielder Fred. Goalkeeper David de Gea, whose future with the club has been a subject of speculation, has yet to come to an agreement over a one-year extension as his contract nears expiration.

Having defeated Burnley 2-0 in the Carabao Cup last Wednesday evening, Man Utd next plays host to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
