Baltimore Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell has undergone surgery after incurring an infection, the player confirmed to reporters.

“I had an infection that required surgery to remove, so it was pretty bad,” Campbell explained.

This news comes after the 36-year-old player was listed with an injury on the Ravens’ injury report, leading to his absence from Baltimore’s 27-22 win at Tampa Bay last week.

Campbell’s surgery took place on October 26; a day before the Ravens’ victory over the Buccanneers. Following the procedure, he is now required to take antibiotics as part of his recovery process.

A few days into his recovery process, Campbell has confirmed that he is recovering well, stating, “I feel good, I don’t feel any different, so that’s good. I’m back to my normal self.” The player is no longer listed on the Ravens’ injury report ahead of Monday night’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

Campbell’s return will be warmly welcomed by the Ravens considering his impact on the team’s form prior to his absence. The defensive end’s last match prior to his omission saw him make four tackles and a sack in Baltimore’s 23-20 win over the Cleveland Browns.
