Baltimore Ravens have secured themselves elite play in secondary for foreseeable future. The team announced on Thursday that cornerback Marlon Humphrey inked a five-year extension that will keep him with the franchise through 2026.

While Ravens didn’t disclose the financial terms of the deal, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Humphrey’s new contract is worth $98.75 million overall. This will bring the 24-year-old player a yearly salary of $19.75 million, making him the second-highest-paid corner in the league behind Los Angeles Rams’ Jalen Ramsay.

“Marlon is the type of player we want in Baltimore,” said Ravens’ general manager Eric DeCosta. “Besides his obvious talents as a playmaking corner, he’s a passionate competitor who craves winning. We are excited that he’s going to remain with us for seven seasons.”

Since entering the NFL as Baltimore’s No.16 pick in 2017, Marlon Humphrey developed into one of the game’s best defensive backs. He is especially lauded for making game-changing plays on the defensive end of the ball, having racked up eight interceptions and four forced fumbles during his time in the league.

After earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in 2019, Humphrey carried over the momentum in 2020 and already has 14 tackles, 0.5 sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble in the first three games of the season.
