The Indianapolis Colts and their reliable running back Nyheim Hines managed to come to an agreement about a new extension. Hines got three more years added to his deal that now locks him with the franchise through the 2024 NFL season.

The Colts still haven’t made the official announcement about the deal, but Hines’ agents Jeremy Appledorf and Ed Wasielewski confirmed the agreement to ESPN’s Field Yates. Reportedly, the 24-year-old NC State product will earn $18.6 million from the deal that comes with $12 million guaranteed.

Hines’ annual salary of $6.2 million will move him in the top 10 highest-paid running backs in the league. He will also be the highest earner in NFL among backups on his position, considering that Jonathan Taylor is untouchable as a starter on Indianapolis’ depth chart.

Nyheim Hines entered the NFL as the Colts’ fourth-round pick in 2018. He played every game since then, with eight starts, and managed to rush for 893 yards and seven touchdowns. While these are not eye-popping numbers, Hines is also valuable for Indianapolis in the passing game.

Since becoming a pro, Hines racked up 170 receptions for 1,227 yards and six TDs. His 170 catches is six-most among all running backs in the past three years.
