Real Madrid has secured the services of Borussia Dortmund’s highly-rated midfielder Jude Bellingham. The La Liga side agreed to play €100 million to Borussia for Bellingham, with the move being potentially worth $130 million with add-ons.
The deal hasn’t been made official yet, as Bellingham needs to undergo his medical. However, Borussia confirmed the agreement in place via a statement issued on their official website.
“This is today´s mutual agreement in principle of the parties,” said Borrusia in a press release. “The contractual details now have to be coordinated and completed. Moreover, the realization of the transfer is still subject to the proper and timely processing.”
Bellingham is considered one of the best young soccer players in the world and has attracted interest from almost all major European clubs. It was previously believed that he would end up going back home to England, where Liverpool and Manchester City made a strong push to get him.
However, Liverpool ended up deciding that the price tag on Bellingham was too much for their liking, while the 19-year-old player didn’t favor a move to City. In the end, he ended up deciding to go to the arguably most-famous club in the world, where he is expected to be one of the key players in the future.
Bellingham is coming off a strong campaign in 2022-23, during which he helped Borussia challenge Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title until the final match day. He played 42 games across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and adding seven assists.
