Real Madrid was in hot water after they lost the Champions League opener against Paris St-Germain with 3-0 last week. But this weekend, they managed to ease off some of the pressure in a great match against Sevilla that ended with a 0-1 victory for Madrid, taking the club to the second place on the La Liga table.

Since the start of the match, both clubs showed great determination, but their equalized forces led to a 0-0 result at the end of the first half-time. Tomas Vaclik successfully defended Eden Hazard’s attempt on Sevilla’s goal. For a while, it seemed like the second halftime would be a re-run of the first but Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema broke the stalemate scoring a fantastic goal in the 64th minute of the match, bringing victory to his club.

This victory takes Real Madrid to the second place of the La Liga chart behind Athletic Bilbao even though they have an equal amount of points (11).

The previous defeat against PSG put Zinedine Zidane in the spotlight, with reporters and media already rumoring his possible future after a bad start of the season. This victory will probably reinforce his position within the club.
