Real Madrid is ready to take advantage of the stalled contracts between star forward Mohamed Salah and Liverpool. According to recent reports, the La Liga club is looking to propose a swap deal for Salah that would see Belgium forward Eden Hazard heading to the Reds.

Real is aware that Hazard’s value significantly dropped after he struggled to make an impact at Santiago Bernabeu, so they are reportedly also willing to include an additional transfer fee to sweeten the deal.

Liverpool and Salah have been in talks about the player’s new contract since the summer but still haven’t managed to come to an agreement. The club’s most recent offer includes close to a $500K weekly salary plus bonuses, but it still might not be enough for the 29-year-old to remain at Anfield. If that’s the case, the Premier League team is expected to consider selling Salah in order to avoid losing him for free in 2023.

Real, who is believed to be in a good financial situation after avoiding major transfer expenses in recent seasons, would likely have no problem making Salah a significantly bigger offer. They have long admired the Egypt international and were linked with a move for him on several occasions before.

Salah has been stellar for Liverpool this season, scoring nine goals and adding three assists in nine games. He had 31 goals in 2020-21.

Hazard, on the other hand, still hasn’t scored or had an assist since the new La Liga seasons started. He only has five goals and nine assists since joining Real from Chelsea back in 2019.
