Getafe joined Real Madrid in the top four of the Champions League after a 0-0 draw at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez yesterday. The goalless draw sealed Real’s listless, unexciting end to the season, leaving their head coach Zinedine Zidane frustrated, while Getafe welcomed the result which positions them on the fourth place in the table despite Sevilla’s 5-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano.

Even though both teams had a few excellent chances to score, all their efforts proved to be in vain. Getafe’s Gorge Molina and Jaime Mata made decent attempts but neither could find a way past Keylor Navas who made a crucial double save, showing Zidane that he was right in choosing him over Thibaut Courtois.

Near the half time, Real striker Karim Benzema missed a great opportunity to break the deadlock and made a shot straight at Getafe keeper David Soria. The Frenchman is Real’s only goal-scorer in April, having scored their past eight goals. Lucas Vazquez, Marco Asensio and Toni Kroos were all summoned off the Real Madrid bench but failed to make any difference to the stale game. Zidane stated his team played a very good game and “deserved a lot more”, so they are “a bit angry for not winning.” Real Madrid had won their previous ten matches against Getafe.
