Real Madrid’s star forward Eden Hazard has been struggling to stay healthy last season, and it appears this trend continues in 2020/21. Despite being expected to make his season debut this week, Hazard suffered an injury setback and will be out for several more weeks.

According to Real’s official announcement, Hazard has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his right leg that is threatening to sideline him at least three weeks. However, depending on the recovery process, he could miss even more time.

According to this timeline, Hazard might miss several important games, including El Classico against Barcelona in late October.

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, arriving on Santiago Bernabe from Chelsea in a $120 million transfer. Despite being expected to be the club’s next big star, Hazard failed to make any major impact on the club in his first season in Spain.

Due to a combination of fitness issues and injuries, Hazard was limited to only 22 games in 2019/20 and has scored only one goal in Real’s jersey. This goal came on October 5, 2019, in a 4-2 win over Granada, meaning that the 29-year-old player now spent almost a full year without finding the net.

Besides Hazard, Real will also be unable to count on German midfielder Toni Kross, who experienced gluteal issues in a win against Betis over the weekend. The team confirmed the decision on Tuesday but didn’t detailed timeline for Kross’ recovery.
