When it comes to European football transfers, this summer has so far proven to be a really surprising season. Since the beginning of this transfer season in European football, there weren’t many players whose futures were discussed as much as Antoine Griezmann.

Despite the fact that he signed a five-year extension on his contract just a year ago, last month the 28-year-old player announced on his social media accounts that he made Atletico Madrid aware of his intentions to leave the club this summer.

The Telegraph reported that a new contract was agreed upon with the player about two months ago, but it has been delayed due to the contingent release clause of the agreement. It was also reported that the Spanish club Barcelona will be signing the French international for $136.3 million and that the signing will be completed after the release clause of the contract comes into force on the first of July next week.

In the meantime, the president of Barcelona FC Josep Maria Bartomeu has denied the news. A few weeks ago, he claimed that no deal was made with Griezmann, even though many credible sources have suggested that the deal was finalized.
