After Maurizio Sarri left Chelsea to return home to Italy, the Blues already have a replacement in mind for their departed former head coach.

Chelsea, according to multiple media reports, is planning on offering club legend Frank Lampard a three-year contract to take over the gig at the helm of the London club.

Lampard joined the club in 2001 as a young midfielder and went on to win a Champions League title, a Europa League title, and three Premier League titles with his hometown club.

He retired with 429 appearances under his belt for Chelsea and 127 goals after brief stints at Manchester City and in the MLS.

Now, the current manager of Derby County in the Championship looks to be given his first shot at managing a top-flight team. Lampard had success in his first season with the second-tier club, finishing in sixth place in the Championship and qualifying for the promotion playoffs before ultimately falling to Aston Villa.

Now, the ball is in Lampard’s court. Chelsea will reportedly offer him a three-year deal to become the team’s new coach, and the club legend will surely find it hard to say no to an offer like that.

All that remains to be done now is wait to see if Lampard will take on this new challenge.
