New England Revolution is making sure that they have a goalkeeper position covered for years to come. Revolution announced on Wednesday that they have signed goalie Matt Turner to a multi-year extension. The financial terms of the deal remained undisclosed.

Turner entered the season as a backup but eventually managed to win the starting spot on the team. He started 13 games with Revolution in 2019, helping them to a 7-2-4 record.

“I’m thrilled to continue my career with the club that took a chance on me as an undrafted rookie from a small school, invested in my development, and gave me an opportunity to prove myself at this level,” – said Turner after inking the deal. “I can’t wait to continue playing in front of The Fort, expand my work in the community, and hopefully bring a championship to this great city that I now consider my home.”

Matt Turner started his career with Jersey Express in Premier Development League in 2014 and spent two years with the team. He joined Revolution in 2016 after a preseason trial with the team but had to wait until 2018 to make his MLS debut. Turner ended up appearing in 27 games last season, making 83 saves and having five clean sheets.

Besides Turner, Revolution also has Cody Cropper and Brad Knighton at their disposal at the goalkeeper position.
