Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first free kick goal since joining Juventus in summer 2018 in a crucial 4-1 win over crosstown rivals Torino on Saturday, a victory that puts them in a commanding position to win this season’s Serie A title.

Juventus, which led Lazio by only two points in the standings heading into the weekend, move to five points clear of the second-place side after their big win and Lazio’s 3-0 loss to AC Milan.

The Old Lady cruised to victory on Saturday, taking a lead only three minutes into the game after Paulo Dybala found the net after a brilliant assist by Juan Cuadrado. Juventus doubled its lead after Cuadrado found the net on the heels of a Cristiano Ronaldo assist in the 29th minute.

The most tension in the game took place just before halftime after VAR conceded a penalty to Torino due to a Matthijs de Ligt handball. Andrea Belotti scored it, and Juventus went to the locker room with a 2-1 lead.

However, Ronaldo’s beautiful free kick goal doubled his team’s advantage at the 61 minute mark of the match, and a Koffi Djidji own goal just before the final whistle blew moved the scoreboard to its final result, a 4-1 Juventus win.

Mauricio Sarri’s side will look to look to move a step closer to clinching its title in a trip to take on AC Milan at San Siro on Tuesday night.
