Pittsburgh Steelers’ Pro Bowl linebacker Ryan Shazier is still determined to get back to football even though a severe spinal cord injury is keeping him sidelined for almost two years. And not only that, but the 26-year-old Pro Bowler also intends to play at a Hall of Fame-worthy level.

“I still want to make the Hall of Fame, still want to be the best linebacker in the NFL,” – said Shazier according to the South Florida Sun Sentinal. “I’m not giving up on my goals, and the doctors said don’t give up on my goals, so there’s no problem with me doing that. I’m just going to keep working, and hopefully, I’m going to be back as soon as I can.”

Shazier has been making progress in recent months and even started jogging and making box jumps. Still, he is still far away from even being considered fit to play again and will continue rehabbing for at least one or two more years. Steelers recently made this official when they placed him on the reserve/PUP list which effectively ended his 2019 NFL season.

Before his injury, Ryan Shazier, who was the 15th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, was beginning to make a case for himself as one of the best linebackers in the league. Shazier’s career highlights include two Pro Bowl, while he also managed to rack up 299 tackles, 7.0 sacks, seven interceptions and seven forced fumbles over the course of four seasons.
