Buffalo Sabres’ new general manager Kevyn Adams decided to put a stop to reports that captain Jack Eichel could leave the team this offseason. Speaking with reporters on Monday, Adams reassured the Sabres’ fanbase that he doesn’t have intentions to trade Eichel.

“I’m hoping I’m clarifying it for you, but that to me is an easy question because we have no intention of doing that,” said Adams when asked about the prospects of Eichel being traded. “I have zero concern on Jack wanting to be here. I’ve had great conversations with him, his representatives. I’m not really sure where that’s coming from.”

Adams also shared that teams have been calling him to ask whether Eichel is available. According to him, they all received a negative response.

Sabres invested heavily over the past decade, trying to build a contender. However, the team failed to make the playoffs since 2010/11, which prompted the organization to start looking towards rebuilding and cutting costs.

Jack Eichel, on the other hand, has been public in his dissatisfaction with the team’s lack of success saying last summer that he’s “fed up with losing.” With this in mind, it’s hard to see him being happy with the organization’s new policy.

Eichel has been the team’s best player in the 2019/20 NHL season, earning his third consecutive All-Star appearance and scoring career-high 36 goals despite the shortened season. He finished the year with 78 points combined.
