Inter Milan forward Alexis Sanchez remains in doubt for his side’s second leg of their Europa League semi-final clash with Bayer Leverkusen due to a hamstring injury, the club announced.

Having come on as a substitute in the 64th minute of his team’s 2-1 victory over Leverkusen in the first leg, Sanchez required treatment on his right hamstring shortly after. Despite his injury, he played for the remainder of the game.

Inter Milan’s official statement on Sanchez’s injury reads: “Alexis Sanchez underwent medical tests this morning in Duisburg after suffering an injury during our match against Bayer Leverkusen. The tests confirmed that he has suffered a strain in his right hamstring. His condition will continue to be reassessed over the next few days.”

This is not the first time that Sanchez has been injured since arriving at the San Siro from Manchester United. He was also ruled out of action for the last three months of 2019 due to an ankle injury.

Despite these setbacks, Sanchez has proven to be a valuable asset to the Serie A giants. He scored four goals and bagged 11 assists in 31 appearances for Inter this season. Due to his impressive showings on the pitch throughout his season-long loan, Inter decided to keep Sanchez at the San Siro on a permanent basis, inking a permanent deal with the Chilean just last week.
