The Seattle Seahawks continue to stock their QB room with options after their star quarterback Russell Wilson landed on injured reserve earlier this month. The latest Seahawks move saw them claim signal-caller Jacob Eason off waivers and add the 23-year-old to their active roster.

Eason was up for grabs after being waived by the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday. The Washington product attempted five passes in the Colts’ uniform, completing two of them and throwing for 25 yards and an interception.

The Seahawks are now expected to enter their Week 7 game against the New Orleans Saints with Geno Smith as their starter and Eason as his backup. They also have second-year player Jake Luton and four-year veteran Danny Etling on their practice squad.

Jacob Eason was selected by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie year as a third-string QB behind started Philip Rivers and backup Jacoby Brissett and didn’t see any action in 2020.

The 2021 preseason saw Eason competing with rookie Sam Ehlinger for the number two QB spot behind Carson Wentz and winning the job. However, after Eason struggled in his pro debut and failed to impress at practice in recent weeks, the Colts opted to move on with Ehlinger as Wentz’s backup.
