Guard Alex Boone is close to completing his comeback to the NFL. Boone, who hasn’t played since 2017, is reportedly close to joining the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad.

The veteran guard announced his return to professional football in February and has spent several months training to get into game shape. The move to Seattle signals that he completed the process, and there is now a good chance that the 33-year-old player will step onto the field before the 2020 NFL season wraps up.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Seahawks will make the signing official once Boone goes through COVID-19-related health and safety protocols.

This news comes after Boone reportedly worked out with the Baltimore Ravens last week.

Alex Boone represents a low-risk, high reward signing for Seattle Seahawks. Boone won’t cost much, and if everything works out well, he will add depth and experience to the team’s offensive line that has been shaky at times this season.

Boone spent the majority of his NFL career with Seattle’s divisional rivals the San Francisco 49ers, where he played 77 games (59 starts) at the guard position between 2010 and 2015. He also played for the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals.
