Seattle Seahawks continued a busy 2020 offseason by parting ways with two players. The team announced on Tuesday that they have released safety Tedric Thompson and tight end Ed Dickson.

By cutting Thompson and Dickson, Seahawks managed to free up around $5 million in cap space. This might prove beneficial in their attempt to re-sign defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

Thompson made two interceptions and had 19 tackles in 2019 at the strong safety, but was limited to just six games due to a shoulder injury. Seahawks are covered at his position after adding Quandre Diggs last season, so Thompson being cut doesn’t come as a surprise.

Dickson was also on the chopping block, considering the crowded TE room Seattle will have this upcoming season. The 32-year-old spent the entire 2019 season on the injured reserve list.

In the meantime, Seahawks signed veteran Greg Olsen, while also resigning Jacob Hollister and Luke Wilson. The team will also have Will Dissly, their fourth-round pick from 2018, at their disposal after he missed the better part of 2019 with a torn Achilles.
