All-Pro safety Earl Thomas has given his Seattle Seahawks two simple options when it comes to his future. In an Instagram post shared on Monday, Thomas has sent a message to the organization that drafted him back in 2010 saying that they should either give him a new contract or trade him.

“Always been the underdog ain’t nothing new. Extend …..if you don’t want me let’s make a trade happen I understand it’s a bizz” – wrote the 29-year-old.

Earl Thomas is entering the last year of his four-year, $40 million extension he signed back in 2014. At that time, he was the highest paid safety in the league, but the figure he is about to make in 2018, $8.5 million, is now sixth in the league. For comparison, Kansas City Chiefs’ Eric Berry is banking $13 million per year at the moment.

Although Thomas is seeking a new deal, there is no indication that Seahawks are currently willing to make that happen. The organization is working on rejuvenating their defense in the past season, and has moved on from almost all original members of their starting secondary known as “Legion of Boom.” Reportedly, the Seahawks might decide to trade Thomas in order to make a fresh start with younger and cheaper players although he still remains one of the league’s elite safeties.

During the eight years he spent with the Seattle Seahawks, Earl Thomas received three First-Team All-Pro honors and was named to the Pro Bowl six times. He also helped Seahawks to win their first Super Bowl in 2013.
