The Los Angeles Rams have locked their Super Bowl-winning head coach Sean McVay to a long-term contract extension this offseason. The news was confirmed by McVay himself at a training camp press conference on Tuesday.

According to McVay, his extension has been kept under wraps because the Rams are also working on a new deal for general manager Les Snead

“We had a respect for the process,” said McVay. “We wanted it to be able to be announced when both Les and I got done because of the partnership. And I think it’s only gotten better as we go, but that’s kind of where it’s at right now.”

It was reported earlier this offseason that Sean McVay is thinking about moving to broadcasting after winning the Super Bowl. While he’s one of the best-paid coaches in the NFL with a reporter $8.5 million salary, he could easily double that on TV. However, McVay ended up dismissing the opportunity, and the extension given to him by the LA team probably played a significant part in this.

Since being hired by the Rams in 2017, McVay posted a 55-26 head coaching record in the regular season. He led the team to four postseason runs that included two Super Bowl appearances. The Rams lost Super Bowl LIII to the New England Patriots but won the Super Bowl LVI by beating the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20.
