Veteran Panama center back Roman Torres will sport Seattle Sounders jersey once again. The Sounders announced on Monday that they have reunited with Torres, acquiring the 34-year-old from Inter Miami.

According to reports, Seattle will send a top 19-protected first-round pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft to Miami for Torres. If the pick falls into the top 19, Inter will then receive a second-round pick in 2022.

Roman Torres leaves Miami after only making five appearances with the franchise. Although Torres started the 2020 MLS season as the team’s starting defender, he eventually lost his place following the arrival of Argentinian Leandro Gonzalez Pirez. Considering that manager Diego Alonso also prefers Andres Reyes and Nicolas Figal ahead of Torres, it was just a matter of time before the veteran moves one.

Torres previously played with Seattle Sounders between 2015 and 2019, making 66 league appearances for the club. He was part of Sounders’ MLS Cup-winning squads in 2016 and 2019.

On the international level, Torres has impressive 119 games with Panama national team. He helped his country to two silver medals at CONCACAF Gold Cup while also getting two CONCACAF Best XI honors.
