Sergio Aguero scored his 150th premier league goal on Sunday as Manchester City thrashed Southampton 6-1 at Etihad Stadium.

The Argentinian forward tapped in a 12th-minute goal after a superb pass by Raheem Sterling to become only the third premier league player to have 150 or more goals with one club. The other two are Wayne Rooney with 183 premier league goals for Manchester United and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry with 175 goals.

Former Blackburn and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer still holds the record for the most premier league goals with 260. Aguero reached the 150 goal mark in his 217th league appearance, one year after becoming City’s highest goal scorer.

For Manchester City, Sunday’s game was another easy win over a struggling Southampton team. City scored six thanks to goals by David Silva, Sterling, Leroy Sane and Aguero. Defending midfielder Wesley Hoedt scored an own goal to give City a lead in the 6th minute.

After Aguero’s goal, David Silva scored to make three from Manchester. Southampton scored their only goal through a 30th-minute penalty converted by Danny Ings. Sterling scored twice, first in the 45th minute and again in the 67th minute. Sane scored in the 91st minute to add to what was an already embarrassing defeat for the Saints.
