On Friday, the San Francisco Giants announced that the team agreed to a long-term extension with their right-hand pitcher Logan Webb. Webb inked a five-year deal that will keep him with the organization through the 2028 MLB season.

Webb’s new deal is worth $90 million and buys out two arbitration-eligible years and the first three free-agency years. The 26-year-old player is earning a base salary of $4.6 million in 2023.

“It was just important for me to be able to say I can wear a Giants uniform for a long time,” Webb said. “It’s important for not only myself, but my family. I know they’re very excited. There are a lot of diehard Giants fans in Rocklin, so I’m where I want to be. It’s an honor.”

Logan Webb made his majors debut for the Giants in 2019 and has since established himself as one of the most exciting young pitchers in the league. He had a breakthrough season in 2022, finishing the campaign with a 15–9 record while having a 2.90 ERA and 163 strikeouts. Webb finished 11th in NL Cy Young Award voting last year and ranked 9th in wins above replacement among NL pitchers.

However, Webb isn’t off to a good start in 2023. He is 0-3 in his first three games of the season and has a 4.76 ERA and 22 strikeouts.
