Southampton are ready to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after the Danish midfielder refused to sign an extension with the club. According to Telegraph, the club already accepted a $30 million bid from Premier League rivals Everton for the player.

Hojbjerg has one more year left on his deal, and Southampton tried to get him to sign an extension in recent months but without any success. The 24-year-old player rejected their advances and reportedly wants to make a move to a bigger club.

This prompted Southampton to start taking calls for the player as they don’t want to risk losing him for nothing next summer. The club previously stripped Hojbjerg of his captaincy, signaling their wish to move on from him.

In recent weeks, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg attracted interest from several clubs, mainly from Premier League, but Everton was the fastest to make an agreement with Southampton. Everton’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti is a big Hojbjerg’s fan and sees him as a perfect piece in his midfield as he tries to transform the club into a title contender.

However, Everton still hasn’t agreed to personal terms with Hojbjerg, which is where Tottenham Hotspurs see their chance to swoop in and get the player. Tottenham already sent several bids, but got rejected. They are now hoping that including in the deal full-back Kyle Walker-Peters, who spent the 2019/20 on loan at Southampton, might help them convince The Saints.

Hojbjerg joined Southampton in 2016 from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. He played 134 games with the club since then, scoring five goals and dishing six assists in the process.
