Southampton has fired manager Nathan Jones, the club confirmed on Sunday. This comes only three months into Jones’s tenure at the club.

Jones was Southampton’s second manager this season, following Ralph Hasenhuttl who was dismissed in November. During his time in charge, the former Luton Town boss only managed to secure one Premier League win for the Saints.

While the club was able to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup as well as the semifinal of the Carabao Cup, seven defeats in eight Premier League games under Jones sees Southampton rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, with the club facing the prospect of relegation if they are unable to turn their season around.

Jones’s dismissal comes after his team lost to a 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 in front of their home crowd. Despite being both a goal and man down, the visiting Wolves scored twice in the second half to sink the Saints to their third consecutive Premier League defeat.
