New York Red Bulls are currently finalizing major transfer move that could help them continue their rise on the Eastern Conference standings. According to Football Insider, Red Bulls are close to signing Southampton’s winger Josh Sims on a one-year-long loan.

Reportedly, Southampton’s manager Ralph Hasenhuttl believes that his team is well covered on the position and has given a green light to the move. Hasenhuttl also hopes that Sims could benefit from getting regular first-team action in MLS.

Red Bulls, who sit on the third spot in the East, currently have an international spot open on their roster so Sims could be plugged in without any additional moves.

Josh Sims made his senior debut with Southampton in 2015, but failed to break into the first team since then. He spent the first part of 2018/19 season with English Championship side Reading, playing 17 matches (five starts) before returning to his parent club in January.

Following his return to Southampton, Sims started getting more meaningful minutes and finished the season with seven appearances in Premier League.
