After six seasons playing for the San Antonio Spurs, LaMarcus Aldridge is set to finally say goodbye. According to team president and coach Gregg Popovich, both Aldridge and the team mutually agreed to part ways.

ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski claims that San Antonio is hoping to trade him, and is working on a handful of different trade scenarios involving potential players they could get in return.

As far as what the Spurs could get for Aldridge, it looks to be interesting. On one hand, Aldridge has been a dominant big man in the league for years, and any team would be lucky to have him. On the other hand, he’s getting pretty old, and isn’t even close to the player he once was.

Just to give a little bit of perspective regarding Aldridge’s less-than-extraordinary play as of late, he’s averaging only 13.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season. In San Antonio’s last game against Brooklyn, Aldridge put up 2 points.

He might be serviceable, but not worth the two-year, $50 million contract that he’s currently getting paid. However, within the right organization, he might be able to thrive in a more ideal way.

Regardless, wherever he goes, chances are he’ll enter the free agent market again, and his contract will likely be a lot smaller.
