Tottenham Hotspur beat Bayern Munich to signing defender Radu Drăgusin from Italian Serie A club Genoa. The deal, worth €25 million plus €5m in add-ons, will also see Spurs defender Djed Spence join Genoa on a six-month loan with the option to purchase the player for €10 million at the end of the loan period.

While Bayern Munich decided to enter the transfer race in the final stages by offering to pay up front for Drăgusin in full, the defender indicated a preference to join Spurs. One source suggested that Genoa will not have to pay a loan fee for Spence.

Drăgusin reportedly traveled to London on Wednesday in order to complete his medical with Spurs. The club also reportedly has a plane on standby for Spence who is expected to travel to Italy shortly. Spurs are hopeful that Drăgusin’s transfer will be completed in time to use the player in Sunday’s Premier League match against Manchester United.
