St. Louis MLS expansion team finally revealed its identity. The team announced on Thursday that they will be officially known as St. Louis City SC while also revealing its badge and colors.
The design of the badge represents St. Louis Gateway Arch and rivers Mississippi and Missouri, while the colors are ”City Red,” ”River Blue,” ”Energy Yellow,” and ”Arch Steel Gray.”
According to the team officials, the name St. Louis City SC was selected among 6,000 submissions from fans and aims to celebrate the “area’s diverse, iconic neighborhoods and proud heritage.“
”Our desire from Day One has been to be bigger than soccer and to become part of the fabric of St. Louis and a symbol of our future. This is a significant step forward for our club – and our region,” said Carolyn Kindle Betz, the president of the club’s ownership group.
St. Louis City SC will make its debut in Major League Soccer during the 2023 season. They are set to join the league as the 29th and 30th expansion team alongside Sacramento.
