Multiple top European clubs are expected to make a run for Bayern Munich’s talisman Joshua Kimmich. The Spanish media outlet Marca reported on Friday that Barcelona, Liverpool, and Arsenal will all attempt to lure Kimmich away from Germany when the transfer window opens in the summer.

Reportedly, Barca sees Kimmich as a perfect replacement for outgoing Sergio Busquets, while Liverpool and Arsenal believe the German international could help them end Manchester City’s dominance in the Premier League. However, they all face a tough time sealing the deal despite the player’s reported wishes for a new challenge.

Soccer insider Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week that Bayern doesn’t have any intention of letting Kimmich go. They view him as a key player in their project and will reject any offer that comes their way.

Joshua Kimmich joined the Bundesliga giants in a €7 million transfer from VfB Stuttgart in 2015. Since then, he established himself as one of Bayern’s most important players and is currently serving as the third captain behind Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller.

During his time in Munich, Kimmich played 345 games in all competitions and scored 40 goals with 94 assists. He helped Bayern win 19 trophies, including seven Bundesliga titles and UEFA Champions League in 2019-20.

Manchester City might repeat as Premier League champions after all. They delivered a dominant performance in a 4-1 win over Arsenal on Wednesday night and have now taken control of the title race.

Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring less than seven minutes into the game, with John Stones making it 2-0 late in the first half. De Bruyne scored his second goal in 54’ minutes to give Man City a 3-0 lead and a comfortable cushion for the remainder of the game.

Rob Holding gave Arsenal a lifeline after finding the net in 86’ minutes, but this turned out to be all that the London club could come with. It was City who would go on to score another one, with Erling Haaland scoring a beauty in the final minute of stoppage time.

Arsenal still remains at the top of the Premier League standings with 75 points compared to City’s 73 points. However, Manchester Club has two games in hand and controls their destiny. This was something that their manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged during his post-game press conference.

“Absolutely my position now because it’s in our hands, “said Guardiola when asked in which position he would rather like to be in.” We have to win the games in hand, but it depends on us. Until today, I preferred Arsenal’s position.”

On the other hand, Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta said that his team still has a shot and doesn’t intend to give up.

“We want to compete; we are not going to give up, it is five games, and in this league, anything can happen,” said Arteta.

Gabriel Jesus scored twice to hand Arsenal a 4-1 victory over Leeds United on Saturday in what was his first game back in the starting lineup since November.

Jesus, who suffered a knee injury at the 2022 World Cup, received a standing ovation from the fans at the Emirates Stadium when he was substituted in the second half.

“Delighted for him. They all were. We were all clapping for him,” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta commented after the game. “He’s been working so hard for the last four or five months with a lot of support from the team and the staff. Today he deserved the chance to start. He grabbed the opportunity with a lot of conviction and with two goals.”

The Brazilian striker handed the lead to the Gunners in the 35th minute when he successfully converted a penalty. Ben White doubled Arsenal’s lead just after the halftime break, with Jesus grabbing his second goal of the game after receiving a pass from Leandro Trossard.

While Leeds pulled one goal back, Granit Xhaka scored a fourth to seal the win for Arsenal.

Germany and İstanbul Başakşehir player Mesut Ozil has announced his decision to retire from professional soccer. Aged 34 years old, Ozil spent the peak of his career at Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Ozil began his career in his native Germany, playing for Bundesliga clubs Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen before signing for Real Madrid in 2010, where he won the 2010-11 Copa del Rey and the 2011-12 La Liga title. In 2013, Ozil began a seven year-stint at Arsenal, playing 254 games for the club and winning four FA Cups in the process.

The attacking midfielder also proved to be a key member of Germany’s national men’s side, finishing third in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa before lifting the 2014 World Cup trophy in Brazil.

“After thoughtful consideration, I’m announcing my immediate retirement from professional football,” Ozil wrote on Twitter. “I’ve had the privilege to be a professional football player for almost 17 years now and I feel incredibly thankful for the opportunity. Arsenal has signed winger Leandro Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion, the North London club announced on Friday. According to sources, the Gunners defeated local rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign the Belgian.

“We are really happy to have him,” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated following the announcement. “He’s a player we have followed for a while now. The opportunity came — we had the necessity to have a player in the frontline that is versatile enough to play in different positions.”

The 28-year-old player proved to be a standout player for Brighton so far this season, scoring seven goals in 16 Premier League games including a hat-trick against Liverpool. He also played in the Belgium national team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Following his return from the World Cup, however, Trossard’s relationship with Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi had reportedly deteriorated. According to De Zerbi, he is regretful that there was a change in behavior, however, he remains confident that his team can continue to thrive without Trossard in the front line.

Arsenal has activated contract extensions for midfielder Bukayo Saka and center-back William Saliba, the club confirmed on Monday. Both players’ contracts have been extended by a season ahead of talks over potential longer-term agreements.

In addition to Saka and Saliba, the club is also holding talks with attacking midfielder Gabriel Martinelli, who is currently under contract with the Gunners until 2024 with a club option for a two-year extension.

Sources claiming to have insider knowledge of the negotiations with Saka claim that the winger is set to request a significant rise in pay before agreeing to a new contract. In addition to exhibiting impressive form for England at the 2022 World Cup, Saka has emerged as one of the key players in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal lineup in recent seasons. While unconfirmed, the player is expected to request a salary in the region of £200,000 a week.

Having arrived at Arsenal in 2019, Saliba had a slow start to life in London, spending several loan spells back in France where he previously played for Saint Etienne. After being named Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year last season, Saliba was handed a place in Arsenal’s starting 11 this season. Saliba has gotten his season off to a strong start, helping Arsenal to rise to first place in the Premier League with 14 wins in 16 games.

Arsenal and United States national team goalkeeper Matt Turner was missing from the Gunners’ squad for the Europa League clash with PSV Eindhoven on Thursday night due to incurring a groin injury. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed that the backup goalkeeper was experiencing discomfort in his groin during training on Wednesday, resulting in first-choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale taking the field for the 2-0 loss.

Turner’s absence poses a concern for the United States Men’s National Team, particularly with the 2022 World Cup fast approaching. Still, Arteta insists that Turner’s discomfort is not a cause for panic, explaining, “Yesterday in training he had some discomfort in his groin, and he tried this morning but he was not well, so Aaron had to play. We have to assess it, but it did not look like a serious injury”.

Since arriving at Arsenal from the MLS side New England Revolution during the summer transfer window, Turner has made just four appearances for the Premier League team, each of which has been in the Europa League. So far, Turner has greatly impressed the Gunners, conceding just one goal and keeping three clean sheets as Arsenal rocketed to the top of their Europa League group.

Gabriel Jesus spent the past five years with Manchester City, but he’s ready for the change of scenery. The Brazilian striker is set to join Arsenal next season, after striking a blockbuster £45 million transfer deal.

Rumors about Jesus’ potential transfer to one of Man City’s rival teams have been swirling around for quite some time, but he tried to ignore them during the season and focused on leading the team to another Premier League win.

“This is no time to think about this. Now is the best moment of the season. I want to enjoy, to keep focused on my team, with my teammates, to fight for the Premier League. I won it with my teammates three times. I know how that feels, and I want to have that feeling again,” said Jesus earlier this year.

Jesus has been plotting a possible move to the Emirates since the start of June. He was looking forward to reuniting with the coach Mikel Arteta, who would regularly offer individual coaching and advice while serving as assistant coach to Pep Guardiola.

Jesus isn’t the only star player that Arsenal is eyeing for the next season. It’s also been reported that they’re in advanced negotiations with Leeds United for Raphinha’s potential transfer.

French striker Alexandre Lacazette was an unlikely hero for Arsenal over the weekend, scoring a late goal to help his club avoid a defeat against Crystal Palace. However, this apparently didn’t do much to improve his chances of staying with the club past the summer of 2022.

This was in part confirmed by Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta after he was asked about the reasons why Lacazette still doesn’t have a contract offer from the Premier League side despite being set to hit free agency at the end of the 2021-22 season.

“It depends on a lot of things, it is not just a matter of being willing. It is about being possible to fulfill that will and when, which is very important as well,” said Arteta.

Arteta didn’t want to confirm that Lacazette’s stay at Emirates Stadium is definitely coming to an end but also didn’t try too hard to deny it.

“Anything is possible,” he added.

Lacazette will be free to agree to terms with a new club as soon as January, and it appears that he will have plenty of suitors. Several high-profile clubs have reportedly shown interest in him in recent months, including La Liga sides Atletico Madrid and Sevilla.

The 30-year-old star has made just five appearances this season but managed to score three goals and add one assist regardless. Overall, he has 68 goals and 29 assists in 175 games as an Arsenal player.

Premier League side Arsenal doesn’t seem keen on keeping French striker Alexandre Lacazette around. According to James Olley of ESPN, the English club still hasn’t offered Lacazette a new contract despite the fact that the 30-year-old player is set to become a free agent next summer.

The report comes after Arsenal made a strong push to get rid of Lacazette during the summer transfer window. Influential reporter Fabrizio Romano recently reported that the London club shopped the striker around and was especially keen on swapping him for Tammy Abraham before Chelsea accepted AS Roma’s offer.

Arsenal’s lack of interest in extending Lacazette’s stay at Emirates is also visible in his time on the pitch. He only made two appearances this season and played a total of 54 minutes in all competitions.

Still, this didn’t stop manager Mikel Arteta from claiming that Arsenal sees Lacazette as an important player who will be “instrumental” for the club’s success.

“You give the reasons why he hasn’t played more minutes, and he will be back to the form that he can achieve,” said Arteta. “I am sure that he will be instrumental in our success.”

Not being wanted by Arsenal shouldn’t pose problems for Alexandre Lacazette in his search for a new landing spot. He is reportedly already monitored by several high-profile clubs and could see offers from Milan, Atletico Madrid, and Sevilla once he can negotiate with other clubs in January.

Lacazette is currently in his fifth season with Arsenal. He scored 66 goals in 172 games for the club and helped them with FA Cup in the 2019-20 season.
