]]>Having started his career at Southampton, Bale’s exceptional performances for the then-English second-tier side earned him a move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2007. Initially a left-back, Bale evolved into a winger during his time at Spurs, establishing himself as one of the best attacking players in world football.
Bale’s rise to superstardom earned him a six-year contract with Real Madrid for a then-world-record transfer fee of €100 million. It was there that he achieved the bulk of his success.
In addition to three La Liga titles and a Copa Del Rey, Bale won five Champions League trophies during his time with the Galacticos, most recently in 2022. While relegated to a bench role during the later stages of his Real Madrid career, Bale is remembered for scoring a stunning overhead kick in Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the 2018 Champions League final.
During the 2020-21 season, Bale returned to Spurs on loan before playing one final season with Real Madrid in 2021-22. Bale signed a one-year deal with MLS club LAFC in June 2022, leading the club to an MLC Cup victory that same season—the first title in the club’s history.

]]>Bale returned to the Spurs in September, joining the club on a year-long loan spell from Real Madrid. The Welsh star striker was poised to play a big role in Tottenham’s return to the top of the Premier League, but the injuries prevented him from doing so.
Speaking with reporters ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Fulham, Mourinho confirmed that Bale is unable to play in that game and that he’ll miss several more upcoming matches.
“No, I don’t expect Gareth to be fit,” said Mourinho. “I wouldn’t say it’s a serious injury, but I would say a few weeks.”
Mourinho also added that he also might be without forwards Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius for the Fulham clash.
The unavailability of all three players is a tough blow for the Spurs as the club looks to end the four-game losing streak that dropped them to sixth place in the league.
Since joining Tottenham, Gareth Bale managed to play only 11 games in all competitions, including just six matches in Premier League. He has scored three goals so far.

]]>During his post-match interview, Mourinho was highly complimentary of Bale, praising him for his calm temperament, intelligence, and determination in the fight to recover from injury.
This interview was not without controversy, however, as Mourinho exclaimed: “When I have five minutes I am going to Safari to look at Madrid’s websites to see what they say.”
This lashing out at Madrid may stem from the tumultuous tenure that Bale endured while at Los Blancos. For much of his career in Spain, Bale took heat for his string of injuries as well as his perceived lack of commitment to Madrid.
The Welsh winger previously played for Tottenham Hotspur from 2007 until 2013, when he was lured to Real Madrid for a hefty price tag exceeding $111 million. On September 19 of this year, Bale returned to Tottenham Hotspur on a one-year loan, with the club paying approximately $30.80 million in wages and loan fees for the player.
Before arriving at Spurs, Jose Mourinho managed Real Madrid from July 2010 until June 2013. He has since returned to Chelsea for a second tenure and managed Manchester United.

]]>At 31 years-old, Bale has suffered through several injuries, thereby adding to the risk that Spurs take by forking out such a hefty sum for the aging star. Bale’s unwavering skill, on the other hand, makes his transfer worth the risk for the Premier League giants.
With a front line already consisting of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, an in-form Bale would surely help the North London side challenge for a top-four league position and perhaps even some silverware this season. With numerous reports suggesting the likelihood of Dele Alli departing the club, Bale’s arrival will be even all the more crucial to Spurs’ squad depth.
In addition to Bale, Spurs are expected to lure in his Real Madrid teammate, left-back Sergio Reguilon, for a £27 million transfer fee. Reguilon is expected to undergo a medical at the Premier League side shortly.

]]>Bale has been deemed surplus by Real’s manager Zinedine Zidane for some time now, having only played 16 games in La Liga in 2019/20. It became clear that the player has no future at Santiago Bernabeu, but the Spanish powerhouse had a hard time moving him due to his massive salary of around $460k per week. He was close to a move to China last summer, but the transfer was stopped at the last moment by club’s president Florentino Perez.
Tottenham is looking to use this situation and lure Bale back to England, while the player is also believed to have an interest in a reunion. However, since the Spurs are cash-strapped, any move would probably depend on Real’s willingness to keep paying a portion of Welshman’s salary.
Gareth Bale spent six years with Tottenham between 2007 and 2013, establishing himself as one of the best forwards in the world. He played 205 games and scored 55 goals during his time in London before Real acquired him in a record-breaking transfer ahead of the 2013/2014 season.

]]>Bale was close to making a transfer last summer but ended up remaining at Santiago Bernabeu. He was in and out of the starting lineup for the better part of the 2019/20, before being dropped out entirely by manager Zinedine Zidane during the final stretch of La Liga season.
Still, according to Barnett, Bale doesn’t plan on leaving the club despite everything.
“Gareth is fine. He has two years left on his contract,” said Barnett. “He likes living in Madrid, and he is going nowhere.”
“It’s a great loss that he’s not in the Real Madrid team at the moment, but he will not leave.”
Reports surfaced in recent weeks that Bale could also go on a loan, but Barnett ruled out such a scenario.
“Gareth is one of the best players in the world. The best players in the world do not go out on loan,” he added.
Gareth Bale made only 16 appearances in La Liga this season while playing four more games in other competitions. When he was on the field, Bale struggled to make an impact, contributing with just three goals and three assists.
Still, there is a significant interest in Bale’s services from all around the world. The clubs from China are willing to give him a record-breaking salary to lure him to Asia, while several European clubs are also monitoring his availability. These options include a return to Tottenham or going to Italy, where Juventus and Inter Milan would like to sign him.

]]>News broke on Tuesday (the attacker’s 30th birthday) that the Welshman has a suitor and that he could find his way out of La Liga.
It appears that Bale’s former club, Tottenham Hotspur of the Premier League, could be interested in making a move for him. The speculation was stoked even more when the club posted a compilation of his best five goals with the North London club in celebration of his birthday.
Since joining the Madrid club in 2013, Bale has put up monstrous numbers including 102 goals and 65 assists in 231 games. Despite injury problems and a tenuous relationship with the demanding Real Madrid fanbase, it’s undeniable that he’s been a key part of a team that has won three Champions League titles during his tenure there.
If Bale wants to return to Tottenham, he will reportedly have to make a sacrifice. The London club is unwilling to pay Bale his annual 15€ million salary and expects him to reduce his wage up to 50% if he wants to go back to play for Spurs.
Now, the ball is in Bale’s court. Either he’ll have to look for another suitor or decide to rejoin a club where he was beloved.
