USMNT star Christian Pulisic is set to leave Chelsea this summer, and several clubs are already standing in line for his services. According to ESPN’s Mark Ogden, Seria A powerhouse Juventus is currently considered the favorite to sign Pulisic, and the move is expected to happen sooner than later.

Pulisic will reportedly be available for a discount price of just £20 million. The London club previously paid £58 million to sign the 24-year-old American from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

Juventus are looking for ways to improve their squad without spending too much money, considering that they won’t play UEFA Champions League next season. Pulisic seems like a perfect candidate since he still has a big upside despite his failure to make an impact in Premier League.

The only thing standing in the way of Pulisic’s transfer is the player’s wages. He is one of the highest-paid Chelsea players and would need to take a significant pay cut in order to play in Italy.

Chelsea, on the other hand, wants to trim down their squad as they look to return to the top of the Premier League under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. Besides Pulisic, several other players are set to depart the club, including Hakim Ziyech and Mateo Kovacic.

Christian Pulisic will leave Chelsea, having scored 26 goals and added 21 assists in 145 games in all competitions. He won three trophies during his time in London, including the UEFA Champions League trophy in 2020-21.

Serie A club Juventus has successfully applied for its 15-point deduction to be suspended pending a new trial. Juventus surged to third place in the Italian top flight as a result, putting themselves back in the mix for a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Juventus was hit with their penalty in January following an investigation that uncovered that the club’s leadership was guilty of false accounting. In addition to the Serie A 15-point deduction, several members of the club’s board were handed bans from soccer activities, including former president Andrea Agnelli.

Following the investigation, Juventus appealed to CONI; Italy’s highest sports court within the Italian Olympic Committee. While several suspensions were upheld, including that of Agnelli and Tottenham director Fabio Paratici, six former board members had their appeals accepted, including former player Pavel Nedved.

In November, the entire Juventus board resigned from their roles following an investigation by Turin public prosecutors into alleged false bookkeeping. The preliminary hearing in a Turin court that was scheduled last month was postponed until May 10 for administrative reasons.

Serie A giants Juventus have just been docked 15 points for the current season after an Italian soccer court embarked on an investigation concerning the club’s transfer dealings, the national soccer federation (FIGC) announced on Friday. In addition, the court also imposed bans on 11 past and present Juventus directors from holding office in Italian soccer.

Before the ruling, a soccer prosecutor had requested a nine-point deduction for the team. As a result of the 15-point deduction, the previously third-placed team in Serie A with 37 points now drops to 10th position, moving them from title contenders to a position outside of qualification for European football.

“We consider this to be a blatant injustice also for millions of fans, which we trust will soon be remedied in the next court,” lawyers representing the club said in response to the court ruling. In addition to denying any wrongdoing, Juventus insists that its accounting continues to comply with industry standards.

In addition, eight other Italian clubs also under investigation were acquitted, including Empoli and Sampdoria.

Despite being one of the biggest soccer clubs in the world, Bayern Munich is known to be cautious when it comes to spending. However, that perception might change after this summer as the Bundesliga powerhouse just wrapped up a transfer for Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus that could end up being worth €77 million.

Bayern beat out Premier League’s Chelsea for de Ligt’s signature and will initially pay €67 million to Juve. Another €10 million might head to Turin based on the add-ons.

“I felt the genuine appreciation from the sporting management, the coach, and the board right from the start, which convinced me,” said de Ligt about his decision to snub Chelsea for Bayern. “On top of that, FC Bayern is a brilliantly run club with big aims. I’m very glad that I’m now becoming part of the FC Bayern story.”

By spending a near-record amount of money on de Ligt, Bayern has continued to spend heavily ahead of the 2022-23 season. The Germans previously also shelled out €41 million to get star forward Sadio Mane from Liverpool while paying €25 million to Ajax for midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.

Matthijs de Ligt previously spent three seasons in Seria A, making 117 appearances and scoring eight goals for Juve. He also helped the club win Seria A and Coppa Italia trophies.

All things point out that Argentine star forward Paulo Dybala is playing his last season with Juventus. According to multiple reports, Dybala will not renew his contract with the Seria A giants and will leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.

Dybala agreed to an extension with Juve early in 2021-22, but the two sides never made the contract official. After a while, the Italian club approached Dybala with a lower offer, something the 28-year-old player wasn’t willing to accept.

The two sides then went back and forth before Juventus decided to acquire striker Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina in January. Vlahovic’s arrival made Dybala surplus to requirements and the club opted not to make an effort to keep him in Turin.

Juve’s CEO Maurizio Arrivabene recently admitted this while chatting with Italian media.

‘With the arrival of Vlahovic, Paulo was no longer at the center of the project, and we made this decision,” Arrivabene explained.

Since arriving at Juventus in 2015, Paulo Dybala played 283 games for the club in all competitions and contributed with 113 goals and 48 assists. He helped Juve win 12 trophies, including five consecutive Seria A titles.

Dybala is expected to have plenty of suitors in free agency. He could remain in Italy, where Inter Milan and AC Milan are monitoring his situations. The list of other interested clubs includes Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland is one of the biggest stars in soccer at the moment and probably one of the most expensive players in the world. So, you can only imagine how hurtful it was for Juventus fans to learn that their club had a chance to sign Haaland for just €2 million several years ago.

This nugget was recently revealed by Inter Milan’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta when he was asked about the biggest regrets he had from his work as a soccer executive.

“One of my biggest regrets was the Haaland deal. I was Juventus CEO, and we had the chance to sign him for €2 million from Molde,” said Marotta during an appearance at the Trento Sport Festival. “It was close. Now it’s impossible to see Haaland in Serie A—there’s no chance for Italian clubs to sign him next summer.”

Haaland played for Molde between 2017 and 2019, scoring 20 goals in 50 matches with the club. After Juve missed the opportunity to sign Haaland, Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg stepped in and acquired the talented striker for around $10 million.

Haaland only spent one year with Salzburg while finding the back of the net 29 times in 27 matches, securing him to a move to Bundesliga powerhouse Borussia Dortmund. He continued to score at will in Germany and is now being monitored by almost every big club in Europe, with Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Manchester United being just some of the clubs waiting in line.

UEFA decided to take legal action against a judge involved in a Spanish court case concerning the thwarted attempt by several top European clubs to form a breakaway Super League competition. The judge, Manuel Ruiz de Lara, is attempting to halt the attempt to punish FC Barcelona, Juventus, and Real Madrid for their involvement in the Super League scandal.

“UEFA has filed a motion for the recusal of the judge presiding over the current proceedings as it believes there are significant irregularities in these proceedings,” UEFA confirmed in a public statement.

While the move to take disciplinary action against the rebel clubs was abandoned on Monday, UEFA is looking to keep the case alive in the hope that the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg would back its attempts to ban Barca, Juventus, and Real Madrid from the Champions League.

The case was launched soon after 12 European football clubs decided to launch the breakaway Super League competition in April. Following widespread backlash from fans and their own government, the six English clubs involved in the plan promptly backed out, with fellow clubs AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid soon following suit. The plan to break away from the Champions League only lasted 48 hours before its ultimate collapse.

The lengthy contract negotiations between Juventus and their star forward Paulo Dybala might have a happy ending after all. While the two sides are yet to come to an agreement, the Seria A club is confident about getting the deal done after submitting a new and improved offer to Dybala earlier this week, according to media outlet Claciomercato.

Dybala is interested in staying in Turin but previously had issues with the wages Juve was offering him. He reportedly asked to get $14 million a year, the same annual salary center back Matthijs de Ligt gets, while the club came well below that.

Recently, Juventus increased their bid and are now offering Dybala around $11.7 million in salary while allowing him to boost his earnings through bonuses. Claciomercato reports that this will most likely get the job done and that the 27-year-old star will commit to staying at Allianz Stadium for the foreseeable future.

Juventus is highly motivated to get Paulo Dybala’s contract done as soon as possible, especially since he could start negotiating with other teams in January and leave the club in the summer for nothing. The Turin side also considers Dybala to be one of their key players for the future and expects him to have a big role in terms of goal scoring and assists after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer.

Dybala has been solid in 2021-22 so far, scoring two goals and dishing two assists. This, however, did not do much for the club early in Seria A campaign as they are currently at No. 12 with just one win from five matches.

Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the best player in soccer history, might be on the move in the summer. Influential Spanish media outlet AS reports that Ronaldo has been made available by the Seria A giants and would cost just around $30 million.

After dominating Italy for the past decade, Juve has been going through a rough period in 2020/21 and they currently sit 10 points behind leaders Inter Milan. This coupled with the club’s decision ahead of the season to go younger and install an inexperienced manager in Andrea Pirlo, is believed to be driving Ronaldo’s exit.

The reason why Juve placed such a low price tag on Ronaldo is his massive wage. The Portuguese star earns close to $40 million annually and clearing him off their books would greatly benefit the Italian club. Also, the 36-year-old player will be a free agent in the summer of 2022, which means he could walk away for free.

Ronaldo is believed to be open to the idea of leaving as well. Sources say that the player regrets his decision to leave Real Madrid in 2018 and would like to return to Spain.

During his two and a half-season with Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo maintained his goalscoring tear and trophy-winning habits. He helped the club win two Seria A titles and two Supercoppa Italiana while netting 95 goals in just 123 games. In this season alone, Ronaldo has 30 goals from 34 contests.

Seria A giants Juventus announced on Tuesday that they activated the permanent transfer option on U.S. international midfielder Weston McKennie.

McKennie joined Juve in the summer on loan with a purchase option from Bundesliga side Schalke 04. The Italian club had until the end of the season to make the decision but opted to do it earlier following the 22-year-old player’s good performances.

According to the official statement by Juventus, they will pay $22.33 million to Schalke in three installments. Schalke will also be due around $8 million based on the player’s performances.

McKennie inked a new contract after the option was activated and is set to stay with the Italian club through the 2024-25 season.

“Wes has proven to be a very important resource for Coach Pirlo, having already put his signature on important performances and goals,” said the club announcing the news.

Weston McKennie established himself as an indispensable player in Juventus’ midfield despite his young age. He played 31 games in all competitions this season, managing to score five goals and add two assists.

McKennie previously played four seasons with Schalke, making almost 100 appearances for the club. He also has 21 games and six goals for the United States men’s national team.
