]]>While the Borussia Dortmund striker has long been Liverpool’s transfer target, manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed his belief that the squad needs to be revitalized overall in order to improve on its disappointing eighth-place standing in the Premier League this season.
“So, yes, he is a really good player,” Klopp said of Bellingham. “What can I say? I have thought that already for two or three years since he had his breakthrough at Dortmund. Everybody knew already but I have no idea what that means for the money side of it.”
In addition to the financial investment required for Bellingham, Klopp is also discouraged from the transfer due to the need to sign several players in the summer to replenish his squad, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, and Naby Keita all set to be out of contract at the end of the season.

Diego Jota immediately made an impact for Liverpool, coming on at halftime in place of Harvey Elliot. Jota went on to win a penalty for the Reds, however, Mohamed Salah shocked Liverpool by blasting his spot-kick high and wide of the goal.
“It was clear from the first second that we come here, Bournemouth are fighting to stay in the league, wonderful club, wonderful city, they want to stay in and they do really well,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said after the game. “Results were not going in the right direction in the last few months, but the performances look different, and so they deserve the three points today, that’s it.”

]]>While the Reds managed to regain their Premier League form with back-to-back 2-0 wins over Everton and Newcastle United, the loss to Real Madrid echoes the struggle that the Kop has faced this season. It is the latest setback in a season that has seen Liverpool eliminated from the League Cup and FA Cup, with Champions League progression now appearing unlikely.
“Conceding five in the Champions League is not acceptable but it happened anyway,” Klopp commented at a news conference on Friday. “We have to change things. The first half [against Madrid] was really good; the second half was the worst start. A lot of things are back but not stable yet.”
Klopp warned that his team must find playing consistently while getting in control of their emotions. He also stated that the team needs to start believing in itself once again.

]]>“I know there has been a lot of conversation and quotes about Liverpool, but I keep to the facts: We merely formalized an ongoing process,” Henry announced on Sunday in an interview with the Boston Sports Journal.
The American businessman revealed that while the club has been in talks with investors, this will likely be a restructuring of the team’s ownership rather than a full takeover. Fenway Sports Group hired investment banks Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to oversee the investment program.
Fenway Sports Group, headed by Henry, acquired Liverpool in 2010 in a deal worth £300 million ($358 million). When investment discussions first arose in November, the firm stated that it would only explore the option of securing additional investors if it was in the Premier League club’s “best interest”.

]]>According to sources familiar with the matter, the transfer fee for Gakpo is expected to be around £37 million ($45 million) with the player expected to become a Liverpool player once the January transfer window opens.
Prior to the Liverpool deal, Gakpo had been viewed as a transfer target by both Leeds United and Southampton. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag had also requested that his club consider making a deal for the player at the end of the summer transfer window, however, no formal offer was submitted.
At just 23 years of age, Gakpo was a crucial member of the Netherlands’ World Cup squad, scoring in each of the team’s group-stage games. His team was ultimately eliminated in a quarterfinal penalty shootout by the eventual champions Argentina.
With winger Luis Diaz out injured due to a knee injury, Liverpool is in desperate need of Gakpo to help fill in the gaps in its attacking lineup.

]]>According to reports, the Boston-based firm has enlisted the help of investment banks Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to help in the process of finding a buyer for the controlling stake. Sources close to the matter have claimed that an information memorandum detailing the possible sale has been sent to potential investors.
It is believed that Liverpool’s involvement in the attempted establishment of the breakaway Europan Super League competition is a driving force behind FSG’s decision to explore the sale of the club. It is also believed that the £4.25 billion sale of Chelsea in May convinced the sports company to test market interest in Liverpool.
Having purchased the Premier League club for £300 million 12 years ago, current market estimates stipulate that FSG could fetch as much as £4 billion for the sale of Liverpool.
FSG released the following statement on the potential sale of the club: “FSG has frequently received expressions of interest from third parties seeking to become shareholders in Liverpool. FSG has said before that under the right terms and conditions, we would consider new shareholders if it was in the best interests of Liverpool as a club.”

Kosicke’s statement echoes the Liverpool manager’s words during an interview earlier in the week, where he confirmed that he will not turn his back on the club as it goes through this challenging situation. He also addressed what he considered to be inaccurate assessments of his situation, explaining, “People look at me and they say ‘he looks tired’ or whatever but I’m not. I cannot give that excuse.”
Despite losing his past two league games against Nottingham Forest and Leeds United, Klopp has guided Liverpool to Champions League round of 16 qualifications, defeating Ajax and Napoli in their last two group stage matches.
Since arriving at Anfield, the 55-year-old manager has won a Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup title with the Reds.

]]>“This isn’t a good situation. I don’t like it at all. We have to see how we react on that, but for sure not panic,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said of the situation.
Thiago’s injury has left the Reds’ midfield severely depleted with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones still unavailable through injury. At the earliest, Thiago could return to action around September 18, when Liverpool travels to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.
While the transfer window will still be open for a few weeks, Klopp has stated that the club will not make a rash decision by bringing in another midfielder to fill Thiago’s spot. “A transfer must make sense now and in the long-term. We have eight midfielders. We still have enough midfielders. It’s not that we lack midfielders, it’s just some of them are injured,” Klopp confirmed.

]]>Liverpool’s last home loss prior to this came in April 2017 against Crystal Palace. Since then, Jurgen Klopp’s squad played an impressive 68 matches without suffering a defeat.
The run was expected to stretch to 69 games because Burnley was in pretty bad shape. They were sitting in the bottom three of the Premier League table and had three losses in their last four games.
But Liverpool also wasn’t in great form, and it showed. They had 27 shots on goal, but only six were on target, and none found their way to the net.
Burnley, on the other hand, was focused on protecting their goal and waiting for a chance of their own. They had only six shots in total while holding the possession 28 percent of the time.
Their opponent’s statistical dominance didn’t matter much, as Burnley was the first one to score. The referee pointed to the spot in the 83rd minute, and Ashley Barnes was calm under pressure to give his team the lead.
Liverpool tried to respond but didn’t manage to find a solution for Burnley’s defense and had to endure their fourth straight scoreless outing.
The win managed to lift Burnley to No. 16 in the Premier League and outside the relegation zone.
Liverpool, on the other hand, is fourth with six points behind the leading Manchester United.
“If I sit now here, losing against Burnley and didn’t score for the last four games and talk about the title race, how silly that would be?”, said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and perfectly summed the frustration his team is facing lately.

Just six minutes later, Liverpool grabbed a well-deserved lead as Andrew Robertson connected with a well-struck cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
From the start of the second half, Liverpool was firmly in the drivers’ seat, getting fleeting half-chances on goal from the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Lacazette, Mane, and Diogo Jota. Ultimately, it was new signing Jota who found the back of the net, volleying the ball home after controlling a headed pass.
“[We were] dominant against a team in form and careful as hell that we did not get caught on the counter-attack,” explained Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after his side’s victory. “Alisson had to make one save, they had two chances in behind but apart from that the football we played was exceptional tonight.”
