The New York Jets have been working hard this offseason to find a new home for their underperforming quarterback Zach Wilson. However, it appears that their desire to part ways with 2021’s second-overall pick isn’t that strong that they’ll consider releasing him.

The Jets made it clear to the rest of the league that Wilson is available for trade. Reportedly, they received several offers in recent weeks but none of them were to their liking. It appears that interested teams are waiting to see whether Wilson will become a free agent, something that team owner Woody Johnson said wasn’t an option during a recent chat with reporters.

“If we don’t trade him, we’re going to keep him,” Johnson said on Monday.

Johnson went on to acknowledge the challenging situation that Wilson found himself in 2023 after star QB Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury and said he still believes the BYU product could end up resurrecting his career, but most likely somewhere else.

“From his standpoint, it’s probably better if he changes faces and he gets to a new [team]. He can wipe the slate clean in that way. I think that would probably be better for him, “he added.

The Jets already prepared themselves for Wilson’s departure, bringing in veteran Tyrod Taylor as a backup on a two-year, $12 million deal.

With their 2023 campaign already unraveling, the New York Jets are reportedly already turning their attention to the next season. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets plan to pursue a trade for Las Vegas Raiders’ star wideout Davante Adams in the upcoming offseason.

The Jets had already attempted to trade for Adams ahead of the NFL trade deadline, but their advance was swiftly rejected. However, the New York team feels the Raiders might change their mind at some point, especially since they are expected to hire a new general manager and head coach once the season wraps up.

The Jets want to reunite Adams and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is expected to fully recover from his Achilles injury in time for the 2024 campaign. The organization already surrounded Rodgers with familiar faces, signing his former Green Bay Packers teammates Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb while also hiring ex-Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to run the offense.

Rodgers and Adams have been one of the best quarterback/wide receiver duos in the league in recent memory during their eight years together in Green Bay. They played together in 108 games, connecting for 622 receptions, 7,590 passing yards, and 69 touchdowns.

Adams has enjoyed a rather quiet season with the struggling Raiders in 2023. He has 64 catches for 741 yards and four touchdowns. His 11.6 yards per catch are his lowest since his sophomore year in the league.

Rodgers, on the other hand, had a disappointing start to his tenure with the New York Jets. He suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in a Week 1 clash against the Buffalo Bills after only four plays.

The New York Jets running back Dalvin Cook revealed that he will speak with his agent as well as team general manager Joe Douglas about facilitating a trade. This comes as Cook grows increasingly frustrated in his role with the Jets. He will need to get a deal done by Tuesday at 4 p.m. in order to depart the Jets.

“It’s something I can’t control, that my name is being floated around in trade rumors,” Cook remarked with regard to his situation with the Jets. “It might be a good thing. Maybe [it’s] a bad thing.” Still, the running back insisted that he is looking to facilitate a trade that is “best for everybody.”

Having signed a one-year, $7 million contract in August, Cook has struggled to perform since arriving in New York from Minnesota, where he was cut loose. He managed just three carries for 12 yards in the Jets’ previous game: a 20-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

The New York Jets are reportedly trading wideout Mecole Hardman to the Kansas City Chiefs. The move will mark Hardman’s return to the place where he spent his first four years in the NFL.

The trade will see the Jets sending Hardman and a seventh-round selection in 2025 to Kansas City while receiving a 2025 sixth-rounder in return.

The Jets signed Hardman to a one-year, $4 million contract in the offseason, hoping he can be a deep-threat weapon for their offense. However, the 25-year-old player never found his fit in New York. He only played 28 offensive snaps and recorded one reception in the first five games while being a healthy scratch in last week’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Chiefs have struggled with production from their wide receivers so far in the 2023 campaign and were looking for ways to upgrade the position. Having Hardman could go a long way in addressing that.

Hardman is familiar with the Chiefs system and had a solid production during his first stint with the franchise. In four seasons he spent in Kansas City, he had 151 catches for 2,088 yards and 16 touchdowns. The Georgia product also added 22 catches for 226 yards and two touchdowns, playing a part in two Super Bowl runs.

The New York Jets’ star quarterback Aaron Rodgers believes he can return from Achilles injury earlier than expected and isn’t ruling out playing again before the 2023 season wraps up.

Rodgers tore his Achilles in the season opener against the Buffalo Bills and underwent what was supposed to be a season-ending surgery, considering the usual recovery timeline. However, the 39-year-old stated in a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show that he believes he can beat the odds.

“There’s nothing normal about how I’m attacking this rehab,” Rodgers said. “The common practice is about six weeks in a boot, and I was in a shoe in 13 days.”

When asked whether he thinks he can return in time to play this season, Rodgers left the possibility open.

“Let’s attack this rehab as hard as we can and see where we’re at in a couple of months,” Rodgers replied. “Obviously, I’d like us to be alive and winning and for that to even be in the conversation, but I don’t think it hurts to put that into the manifestation.”

It would be stunning if Rodgers ended up actually playing again in 2023. Athletes usually need at least six months to recover from a torn Achilles. There were examples where players returned after four or five months, but Rodgers would have to recover even faster to reach his goal.

With Rodgers out, the Jets have been struggling to stay afloat. They are currently 1-3, suffering three straight losses and not looking anywhere close to making a push for the playoffs.

The New York Jets finally decided to add some veteran depth on the quarterback position. According to multiple reports, the Jets are signing free-agent signal-caller Trevor Siemian.

Siemian will initially land on the Jets’ practice squad but is expected to be elevated to the active roster in time for the Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

After losing starter Aaron Rodgers to a season-ending Achilles injury, the Jets suddenly found themselves thin at the quarterback position. Backup Zach Wilson has played poorly since replacing Rodgers, while third-string QB Tim Boyle doesn’t represent a viable option under center.

The Jets were linked with a number of free-agent quarterbacks in recent weeks, including former NFL MVP Matt Ryan and ex-Philadelphia Eagles starter Carson Wentz. However, Ryan publicly stated that he has no interest in coming to New York, while Wentz is believed to be a bad fit for the Jets’ offense.

Trevor Siemian entered the league as the seventh-round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2015. The Northwestern product spent three years with the Broncos, starting 24 games and throwing for 5,686 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions. He later spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, the Jets, the New Orleans Saints, and the Chicago Bears, mostly serving in a backup role.

Siemian spent the 2023 training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals but lost the competition for a backup job to Jake Browning.

Aaron Rodgers’ highly-anticipated regular-season debut with the New York Jets came to an end after just four snaps. Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury early in the first quarter of Monday Night Football clash against the Buffalo Bills and will likely be out for the remainder of the 2023 campaign.

The injury came on the Jets’ first possession of the game. Rodgers was trying to avoid a sack from Bills’ defensive end Leonard Floyd when his foot got stuck in the ground. He was slow to get up after and needed assistance to get to the sidelines.

Speaking with reporters after the game, which the Jets’ won in overtime, head coach Robert Saleh said that Rodgers would have an MRI on Tuesday but didn’t sound overly optimistic.

“The MRI is probably going to confirm what we think is going to happen, so prayers tonight,” Saleh said. “But it’s not good.”

This is a tough blow for the Jets, who had Super Bowl aspirations for 2023 after acquiring Rodgers in a trade with the Green Bay Packers back in April. Now, the team will once again have to turn to Zach Wilson, who struggled to adapt to the NFL since being selected as the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Rodgers, on the other hand, faces an uncertain future. He already thought about retiring after the 2022 season, and a major injury like this might prompt him to consider walking away once again.

The New York Jets’ veteran wide receiver Corey Davis announced on Wednesday that he is “stepping away from the sport of football.”

Davis shared the news on social media, saying that he has been “contemplating” the decision for “some time now.”

“This decision has not been easy. Although I am a deep person, I am a man of few words. I’ve been searching my heart for what to do, and I feel that stepping away from the game is the best path for me at this time,” Davis wrote in a statement posted on Instagram.

It is unclear whether Davis is taking some time off from professional football or he’s retiring. The 28-year-old player has been away from the Jets for more than a week while dealing with a “personal matter”.

Speaking with reporters about Davis, Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh said that the team would be open to welcoming him back if he changes his mind.

“The door is always open if guys want to play football,” said Saleh.

Corey Davis started his NFL career as the fifth overall pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2017. After four years with the Titans, Davis signed a three-year, $37.5 million contract with the Jets ahead of the 2021 NFL season.

During his six years as a pro, Davis caught 273 passes for 3,879 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The two-year, $75 million contract is believed to be fully guaranteed. He was set to make a guaranteed $100 million as per his previous contract.

Rodgers revealed during a post-practice media session on Wednesday that he would be signing a reworked agreement. He did not divulge details, however, instead speaking of his desire to play more than one season for the Jets.

“The team gave up significant pieces for it to be just a one-year deal,” Rodgers explained. “I’m aware of that. … Anything could happen with my body or the success we have this year, but I’m having a blast, so I really don’t see this as a one-year-and-done thing.”

The New York Jets are determined to part with wideout Denzel Mims this offseason; one way or another.

According to multiple reports, the Jets are currently working on trading Mims. However, the franchise also informed Mims that he would be released if they could not find a trade partner.

Matt Lombardo of Heavy on Sports reported on Wednesday that several teams are interested in Mims, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots being in the mix for the 25-year-old player.

The Jets had big expectations for Mims when they selected him out of Baylor in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. However, it is safe to say that the wideout failed to deliver on those expectations in his three seasons with the team.

Mims has played a total of 30 games since entering the league and has only 46 catches for 676 yards to show for. He is yet to catch his first touchdown pass as a pro.

The New York team has made several additions to their wide receiver corps this offseason, bringing in Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Mecole Hardman. With last year’s first-round pick Garrett Wilson and veteran Corey Davis also on the roster, Mims is a clear odd-man-out.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers signed a reworked contract with the New York Jets, a source revealed on Wednesday, in which he agreed to take a $35 million pay cut over the next two seasons.
