Despite all of the success he had as a manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola reportedly won’t remain with the club for much longer. According to ESPN’s Rob Dawson, Guardiola is expected to leave City in 2025.

Guardiola’s current contract with the Premier League champions expires following the 2024-25, and sources close to the club told Dawson that the Spaniard doesn’t intend to sign an extension.

Guardiola is believed to be interested in taking a national team after he finishes his time with Manchester City. If that ends up being the case, he would have his choice of jobs, whether it’s Spain or other teams that he was linked with in the past, like Brazil and the United States.

Since arriving at Manchester City in 2016, Pep Guardiola has won an impressive 14 trophies. This includes a historic treble this season when he guided the City to Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League trophies. His City side became the first English team since Manchester United in 1998–99 to achieve the feat.

Guardiola previously managed Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He won three La Liga titles and two UCL trophies with Barca and conquered the Bundesliga in each of his three seasons in charge with Bayern.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag stated that he has no interest in Pep Guardiola’s tactical plan ahead of the Manchester derby on Saturday. This comes after the Man City boss suggested that he has a “ridiculous” idea for how his team can defeat Man Utd at Old Trafford.

“I don’t care about that, what he is thinking,” ten Hag confirmed during a news conference on Friday. “He did it more often and we are prepared for that if he does different things. We have our principles, our rules of football.

Ten Hag added that while he acknowledged Guardiola’s team as one of the strongest, he believes that his players are good enough to overcome the challenge that Man City poses.

Earlier in the week, the Red Devils completed the signing of Burnley striker Wout Weghorst on loan, who ended his loan deal with Besiktas in favor of a move to Manchester. The 30-year-old player will not be among Man Utd’s matchday squad, however, as the club was unable to register him in time.

Ten Hag has hinted that more signings may follow before the January transfer window deadline.

Manchester City was eliminated from the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night following a shock 2-0 defeat to Premier League strugglers Southampton.

City manager Pep Guardiola expressed his frustration with his team’s lackluster performance, noting that they had not even managed to produce a shot on target for the duration of the contest. This is the first time since 2018 that City has not managed to register a single shot on target in a match.

“The better team won,” Guardiola commented during an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live. “We didn’t play good, we didn’t play well in the beginning. There are many games you can start not good and overcome and we didn’t do it. When you are not prepared to play this game you arrive one inch late and don’t score a goal. When you are prepared you score the goal.”

Despite retaining 72% possession of the ball and dictating the run of play, City’s inability to be clinical up front led to their downfall. Southampton will now face Newcastle United in the semifinal, while Nottongham Forest will go up against Manchester United.

Having signed a contract extension with the club in November 2020, the Spanish coach has expressed his desire to take a break from management before moving on to coaching at an international level.

“After seven years at this club, I think I’m going to have a break. I will need to rest after being somewhere so many years and also stop to evaluate what we’ve done and to try to learn from other coaches,” Guardiola explained.

Guardiola has also mentioned that he would be open to considering a South American nation for his next job, citing his interest in participating in the Copa America competition.

Since beginning his tenure with Manchester City, Guardiola has won three Premier League titles. Prior to arriving in Manchester, he also won several league titles with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, along with two Champions League trophies with Barca.

Manchester City is expected to be without five players during their match against Chelsea on Sunday. Stars Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker are among the players who were ruled out of the clash due to contracting COVID-19. Despite an apparent outbreak at the club, Sunday’s game is expected to go ahead as usual.

With two staff members also having tested positive for coronavirus, City is expected to order two more sets of tests ahead of Sunday’s game. In an interview, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola explained that the Premier League will not allow the club to disclose the names of all the players who tested positive. He did, however, state that spectators will realize who these players are when they see the final team sheets for the game.

In addition, Guardiola remarked that the canceled game against Everton on Monday was due to a virus outbreak. “We had enough players to play Everton, we wanted to play, but for the day of the game there were more cases and the virus was inside our center and we informed the Premier League”, he claimed.

Guardiola further explained that he called Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti, explaining that the team could play but that it would be a risk to travel on the bus. Eventually, the decision was made to call it off.

There were quite a lot of rumors in recent months surrounding Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola and his future with the Premier League side. Guardiola still hasn’t signed an extension, which led many to speculate he’ll end his tenure at Etihad Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the season.

However, it appears that the Spaniard isn’t so keen on leaving City as some believe.

During a recent chat with reporters, Guardiola talked about his future when asked to comment on speculations that he could return to Barcelona when the club elects a new president.

“I am incredibly happy here,” said Guardiola, dismissing the rumors.

Guardiola explained that he enjoys his work with Man City and expressed hope to continue his stint with the club in the future.

“I’m delighted to be in Manchester, and I hope I can do a good job this season to stay longer,” he added.

Pep Guardiola arrived at Manchester City in 2016 and helped the club to further assert their status as one of the best clubs in the world. City won two consecutive Premier League titles under  Guardiola, in 2017/18 and 2018/19, while also winning six other trophies.

The only major silverware that Guardiola lacks with City is UEFA Champions League, and if he sticks around, there is no doubt that he’ll be in the position to get it.

Rumors surrounding a potential swap deal between FC Barcelona and Manchester City have been quashed, following Rafinha’s confirmation that he is unaware of any pending interest from Man City to bring him to the Etihad.

This comes after it was strongly suggested by several news sources that Man City would be willing to let Eric Garcia depart for Barca in exchange for Rafinha joining the Premier League club.

These rumors began in August when Man City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that Garcia did not want to sign a new contract with the Premier League giants. The defender’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.

Rafinha is in a similar predicament to Garcia, with his contract due to expire at the end of the 2020-21 campaign as well. While several clubs have expressed interest in signing Rafinha, none of them have come close to offering the Balugranes’ asking price of $19 million.

One of the interested clubs was Celta Vigo, the team for whom Rafinha scored four goals in 29 La Liga appearances while on loan last season.

In addition to Celta Vigo, Rafinha also spent time on loan at Serie A giants Inter Milan in 2018, making 17 appearances and scoring twice.

The Italian journalist Federico Gennarelli of Radio Sportiva claimed that Manchester City’s Catalan coach Pep Guardiola will be leaving the team and will be the new coach of Juventus who is currently looking for a coach.

This comes as a shock, especially after City became the first team in England’s (men) football history to win both cup competitions and the title of the league in the same season.

Juventus obviously has great plans for the future since the acquisition of the five-time champion league winner Christiano Ronaldo. The coach spot was opened after Max Allegri left Juventus during last week.

The Italian Journalist Gennarelli had stated on his twitter account that Pep Guardiola will be the new coach of the team Juventus for the next 4 years and that the deal was done. Also, these claims come expected after the reports that the Juventus director Fabio Paratici had met with Guardiola in Milan.

There are photos of Paratici entering the Palazzo Parigi hotel in Milan where Guardiola is staying at the moment, and it was also claimed that the two had a private conversation.

Last season, Manchester City were the first ever team to win the Premier League with a record score of 100 points. This season, if they win their three remaining games, they will come out on top with 98 points.

The team’s last season’s record and this season’s stellar effort has worked to raise Premier League standards. Any team aiming to beat them to the title in the next season will have to set up 100 points as its goal, stated manager Pep Guardiola. He added that until last year the standard was 90, but now, thanks to Manchester City, teams need to come close to 100 to win the Premier League.

Liverpool is the only current title contenders. They would finish the season with 97 points if they manage to win their two last matches. Any other year, this score would have been enough to with the title – except for the 2017-2018 season, in which the 100-point record was established by Man City. Guardiola praised Liverpool’s success, saying that it’s their vigor that has kept ManchesterCity competing and striving to improve this season.

Just a couple of months ago, Pep Guardiola’s Man City found themselves 10 points behind Liverpool and with almost no hope of winning the Premier League.

Fast forward to March, and the story has changed completely.

Matchday 29 couldn’t have gone any better for City, as they defeated AFC Bournemouth 0-1 in a commanding performance and then saw Liverpool draw 0-0 with cross-town rival Everton.

Man City’s win, combined with Liverpool’s draw, allowed the reigning EPL champions to climb into first place for the first time since early in the season.

Manchester City now has a slight, one-point edge over the Reds—71 to 70 points. There are only 9 match days remaining, meaning that this race will likely come down to a photo finish at the end.

City’s win over Bournemouth was suffocating. They didn’t allow their opponent to create a single shot on goal. All they needed was a 55th minute Riyad Mahrez strike to give them the win and 3 points.

Meanwhile, Liverpool goes home extremely disappointed after their draw against the Toffees. Despite having several big chances throughout the course of the game, they were unable to score and maintain their Premier League advantage.

The race for the EPL is on, and it should make for an exciting finish that could go down to the wire.
