Last season, Manchester City were the first ever team to win the Premier League with a record score of 100 points. This season, if they win their three remaining games, they will come out on top with 98 points.

The team’s last season’s record and this season’s stellar effort has worked to raise Premier League standards. Any team aiming to beat them to the title in the next season will have to set up 100 points as its goal, stated manager Pep Guardiola. He added that until last year the standard was 90, but now, thanks to Manchester City, teams need to come close to 100 to win the Premier League.

Liverpool is the only current title contenders. They would finish the season with 97 points if they manage to win their two last matches. Any other year, this score would have been enough to with the title – except for the 2017-2018 season, in which the 100-point record was established by Man City. Guardiola praised Liverpool’s success, saying that it’s their vigor that has kept ManchesterCity competing and striving to improve this season.
