Tottenham Hotspur beat Bayern Munich to signing defender Radu Drăgusin from Italian Serie A club Genoa. The deal, worth €25 million plus €5m in add-ons, will also see Spurs defender Djed Spence join Genoa on a six-month loan with the option to purchase the player for €10 million at the end of the loan period.

While Bayern Munich decided to enter the transfer race in the final stages by offering to pay up front for Drăgusin in full, the defender indicated a preference to join Spurs. One source suggested that Genoa will not have to pay a loan fee for Spence.

Drăgusin reportedly traveled to London on Wednesday in order to complete his medical with Spurs. The club also reportedly has a plane on standby for Spence who is expected to travel to Italy shortly. Spurs are hopeful that Drăgusin’s transfer will be completed in time to use the player in Sunday’s Premier League match against Manchester United.

Despite being billed as the top candidate to be the new Tottenham Hotspur manager by the media, ex-Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann is not even in the running for the job anymore. According to soccer insider Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham is no longer interested in Nagelsmann and will proceed with other options.

Reportedly, the talks between the two sides broke down after Nagelsmann wanted to receive clarity over the London club’s transfer strategy and new sporting director.

ESPN’s James Olley also reported that Nagelsmann is out of the running while sharing more details about the process. According to Olley, the sources from the club told him that Tottenham actually never made a formal approach to Nagelsmann and that they are focused on other candidates.

There are several other names being linked with the Tottenham job, including Feyenoord’s Arne Slot and Mainz’s Bo Svensson. The Premier League side is also keeping tabs on Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim, two talented managers who did a great job with Bayer Leverkusen and Sporting Lisbon, respectively, this season.

Nagelsmann might still end up in London despite missing out on the Tottenham job. His name was previously linked with the vacant manager role with Chelsea, and the club is expected to interview him when they start the search in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Richarlison has denied that he played any part in the dismissal of former manager Antonio Conte. This comes after a media report claimed that Richarlison and fellow Brazil player Cristian Romero had given the club an ultimatum regarding Conte’s future.

Richarlison dismissed the rumor, stating that he continues to harbor a lot of respect for the Italian coach. He added that whenever there was a dispute amongst the team, it was solved by Conte and the players using “conversation and professionalism.”

“I wasn’t a mutiny leader against him, it was quite the opposite,” Richarlison continued. “I’m sorry I didn’t deliver as much as he expected of me and I didn’t do enough for him to stay. When he left, I sent him a message thanking him for everything and wishing him the best cause that’s what he deserves!”

Prior to departing the club by means of mutual consent, Conte criticized both his players and the club ownership following a 3-3 draw with the struggling Southampton in the Premier League before the international break.

Manager Luis Enrique is eager to return to coaching after being fired by Spain’s national team following a disappointing 2022 World Cup campaign. And he already knows where he wants his next job to be.

Speaking with Spanish media outlet Cadena Ser earlier this week, Enrique said that he wishes to coach in the English Premier League. However, he reiterated that he would only take over a team that is capable of doing “important things.”

“I follow above all the Premier [League] because I would like to go to England to work,” Luis Enrique shared. “I wouldn’t go to any team but to one that could do important things, which greatly reduces the number.”

Despite being linked with Tottenham Hotspurs in the wake of Antonio Conte’s exit, Enrique said that he didn’t receive any official approaches from Premier League clubs so far.

“I don’t put my hopes up, really, because there are many candidates,” he added.

Enrique is considered a strong candidate for the Spurs job but will face big competition. The London club’s brass is considering several other high-profile names and has a big list that includes former Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann and their ex-manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Luis Enrique started his managerial career with Barcelona’s B team before embarking on spells with AS Roma and Celta Vigo. He was hired by Barca to coach the first team in 2014 and had a successful stint that included consecutive La Liga titles and a UEFA Champions League trophy in 2014-15.

Enrique left Barcelona in the summer of 2017 after his contract expired and was appointed as Spain’s head coach less than a year later. He led a young Spanish team to a surprising semi-finals appearance in Euro 2020 but underperformed at World Cup in Qatar, where Spain was eliminated in the round of 16 by Morocco. He left his post shortly after the defeat.

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and their manager Antonio Conte have parted ways in what the club has described as a “mutual agreement.” Conte’s exit was an unceremonious one, being announced in a short statement posted on the Spurs’ website.

Assistants Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason will step in for Conte and helm the club on an interim basis until the end of the season. The Spurs currently sit at No. 4 on the Premier League standings with the UEFA Champions League place in their hands at the moment.

“We have 10 Premier League games remaining, and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place,” said club chairman Daniel Levy. “We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”

Conte’s exit was largely expected following his explosive press conference after 3-3 tie with Southampton earlier this month. At the time, the Italian coach accused Spurs’ players of being “selfish” while saying that the club doesn’t have a winning mentality.

After Conte made his displeasure with the club public, the Spurs brass felt it had no other option but to move on from the Italian. They are expected to start the search for his successor immediately, with former head coach Mauricio Pochettino being one of the main candidates. Other names on the list reportedly include Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique.

Antonio Conte leaves Tottenham after less than two years in charge. He is credited with doing an excellent job last season, turning around the Spurs’ season and getting them into the UCL. However, the club didn’t make the expected progress in 2022-23, and his result with the squad and the club executives became worse as a result, ultimately leading to his dismissal.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte announced on Tuesday that forward Richarlison is set to undergo an MRI scan following a hamstring injury that he picked up while on international duty for Brazil at the World Cup.

“For Richy, tomorrow he’s going to have an MRI [scan] to know very well the importance of the injury,” Conte confirmed. “After tomorrow we will see very well the time he needs to recover.”

As Brazil’s central striker, Richarlison scored three goals during his country’s run to the quarterfinals. He was injured with six minutes left to play in regular time in Brazil’s quarterfinal loss to Croatia on penalties.

In addition to Richarlison, Spurs are also monitoring the injury situation of Uruguay midfielder Rodrigo Betancur and Wales’ Ben Davies, both of whom have returned to training. While Davies has already returned to full training and is expected to be match-fit, Conte expects Bentancur to return in Spurs’ January 1 match against Aston Villa at the earliest.

Following the World Cup break, Tottenham’s first game is a friendly match against French Ligue 1 side Nice on Wednesday. They then face Brentford in the Premier League on Monday.

Tottenham Hotspur came back from the brink of elimination to defeat Olympique Marseille 2-1 at the Stade Velodrome on Tuesday to secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

After being placed under pressure by the French side’s attacking ability in the first half, the Spurs’ defense finally caved in during first-half stoppage time when Chancel Mbemba put Marseille in the lead. By this stage, Tottenham had been knocked down from a knockout round qualification spot.

With manager Antonio Conte banned from the sidelines and star midfielder Son Heung-Min going off due to injury, the disadvantaged Spurs side managed to turn their fortunes around when defender Clement Lenglet leveled the scoreline in the 54th minute.

The Premier League giants then sealed their win in a most dramatic fashion as Pierre-Emile Hojberg scored the winner for Tottenham with the last kick of the game in the 95th minute.

Following their victory, Spurs emerged as group winners with 11 points while Marseille finished bottom of the group with six points.

“To be honest, we expected that type of game. The Stade Velodrome is a very difficult place to deal with and I think we showed great personality,” Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris remarked.

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur didn’t waste much time finding a new manager after parting ways with Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday. Less than 24 hours later, the club struck a deal with Antonio Conte and appointed the Italian as their new manager moving forward.

Conte inked a contract that runs until the summer of 2023, according to Tottenham’s official announcement. The agreement between the two sides also comes with “an option to extend.”

Shortly after signing the deal, Conte met Tottenham’s first team and took part in the training on Tuesday.

“I can’t wait to start working to convey to the team and the fans the passion, mentality, and determination that have always distinguished me, as a player and as a coach,” said Conte in a statement shared by the club.

Tottenham already tried to hire Antonio Conte during the summer while searching for a successor to Jose Mourinho. Conte rejected their initial approach but became keener on taking the job over time which was reportedly the determining factor that prompted the club to speed their decision on firing Santo.

Conte already coached in Premier League, helming Chelsea between 2016 and 2018 and leading the club to a Premier League title. He also has three Seria A titles with Juventus and one Seria A title with Inter.

Harry Kane won’t be swapping Tottenham Hotspur jersey for Manchester City one. At least not this summer.

Kane told Tottenham in May that he wants to leave the club to compete for trophies and singled out Man City as his preferred destination. This prompted reigning Premier League champions to make several bids for the English striker, but all of them were swiftly rejected. It was believed that the London club asked for around $200 million and wasn’t ready to settle for less. City, on the other hand, never intended to go this high, which resulted in a negotiation breakdown between the two clubs.

After it became clear that the Spurs won’t let him go so easily, Kane decided not to push for the move any further. He made his intentions known on Wednesday, writing on Twitter that he “will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success.”

While his transfer saga was ongoing, Harry Kane attempted to force the move by reporting late for preseason training. This prompted Tottenham’s new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo to omit Kane from the matchday squad for the season opener that curiously came against City. The 28-year-old player then started the club’s second Premier League match against Wolverhampton on the bench before making a late-game cameo.

Kane spent his entire senior career with Tottenham Hotspur, making his first-team debut in 2009. He played a total of 337 games in all competitions for the club, scoring 221 goals. He is still waiting for his first trophy on the club level.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines. According to the team’s manager Jose Mourinho, Bale is dealing with a calf injury and will be sidelined “a few weeks”.

Bale returned to the Spurs in September, joining the club on a year-long loan spell from Real Madrid. The Welsh star striker was poised to play a big role in Tottenham’s return to the top of the Premier League, but the injuries prevented him from doing so.

Speaking with reporters ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Fulham, Mourinho confirmed that Bale is unable to play in that game and that he’ll miss several more upcoming matches.

“No, I don’t expect Gareth to be fit,” said Mourinho. “I wouldn’t say it’s a serious injury, but I would say a few weeks.”

Mourinho also added that he also might be without forwards Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius for the Fulham clash.

The unavailability of all three players is a tough blow for the Spurs as the club looks to end the four-game losing streak that dropped them to sixth place in the league.

Since joining Tottenham, Gareth Bale managed to play only 11 games in all competitions, including just six matches in Premier League. He has scored three goals so far.
