The Vic Beasley experiment is officially over in Tennessee with the Titans informing the outside linebacker that they will be releasing him on Wednesday.

The Titans signed Beasley in the offseason to a one-year, $9.5 million contract. Their defense got very little in return, however, with Beasley looking unprepared to play for the majority of the season. Beasley only played in 24% of the defense’s snaps this season, posting just three tackles and one forced fumble.

Right from the get-go, it appeared that the Titans were not a good fit for the sixth-year veteran. He arrived 10 days late to training camp and was fined $500,000. And once Beasley arrived at camp he was immediately placed on the non-football injury list.

The Titans were hoping that Beasley would be able to give their pass rush a boost, but he has done very little to that end. Tennessee also signed pass rusher and former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney to get to the quarterback, but that hasn’t been working out either. Clowney has yet to register a quarterback sack this season.

Back in 2015, Beasley led the NFL with 15.5 sacks while he was playing for the Atlanta Falcons. He had 8.5 sacks for the Falcons last season before being traded. Sources say that Atlanta wanted to get rid of Beasley because of his questionable work ethic and lack of passion for the game.
