Detroit Lions entered Thursday’s game against Houston Texans with hopes of turning around their bad luck on Thanksgiving. Instead, they suffered a blowout 41-25 loss that extended their Thanksgiving losing streak to four games.

Things started well for the Lions, as they forced the Texans to punt on the opening drive and then marched 85 yards down the field to score a TD and get the lead. After Houston punted the ball again, it looked like Detroit is in control. But things started going downhill from there.

Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford first threw an interception deep in his own half, with the ball being picked up by JJ Watt and taken in for a touchdown.

Immediately on the following possession, running back Jonathan Williams fumbled the ball and gave Texans’ offense a great starting position that Houston turned into a TD in just four plays.

After an eventful first quarter, Detroit took the lead thanks to Adrian Peterson’s second TD of the game, but their celebration didn’t last long.

Following a quiet start, Texans’ quarterback Deshaun Watson started getting into sync with his receivers and began producing some big plays that saw Houston put up 10 points on the board before the end of the first half. Stafford and the Lions, on the other hand, look like they were losing their edge.

Each team scored a field goal in the third quarter, but it was Houston that took control in the fourth. Watson and wideout Will Fuller connected for a 40-yard TD and all-but secured the game for Texans.

Lions tried to mount a comeback, but after losing the ball on downs in their half and allowing another touchdown, it became clear that this Thanksgiving just wasn’t their day.

Deshaun Watson was a standout performer for Texans, throwing for 318 yards and four touchdowns, while Will Fuller finished the game with six catches for 171 yards and two scores.

On Detroit’s side, Matthew Stafford finished with 295 yards and a TD, while Adrian Peterson had 55 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
