The Houston Texans’ search for a new general manager is reportedly over. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio agreed to take this challenging job and will be officially introduced in the upcoming days.

The Texans long admired Caserio, wanting to hire him as a GM back in 2019. The Patriots blocked their attempt at the time, but Houston was more persistent in their second attempt and it ultimately landed them their man.

Caserio faces several tough challenges in his new job, with the most difficult being the search for a new head coach. Several candidates already interviewed for the job, but he is expected to take charge in the process now and have the final say.

Besides this, Caserio needs to find a way to minimize the damage done by former GM/head coach Bill O’Brien. This includes giving several players overblown deals and robbing the team of significant draft capital in questionable deals.

Nick Caserio spent his entire executive career with the New England Patriots, serving on several positions and being part of the franchise’s six Super Bowl wins. He became the director of player personnel in 2008.
