Texas A&M have offered football coach Jimbo Fisher a new contract extension which will keep the coach with the team until 2030. The contract, which includes a raise that will push his salary over $9 million, is currently in the process of being finalized.

After arriving at the team on a 10-year contract, Fisher is now entering his fourth season with Texas A&M. Fisher’s initial contract, worth $75 million, was awarded once Texas A&M was able to successfully lure him away from Florida State University, where he coached the Seminoles for eight seasons. The new deal is worth more than $90 million.

As a result of the new deal, Jimbo Fisher will now be the second highest paid coach in college football across the nation, trailing only behind Nick Saban, the coach of Alabama Crimson Tide.

Currently ranked at number 6 in The Associated Press preseason poll, the Texas A&M Aggies will begin their campaign for the new season on Saturday against Kent State.

The Aggies will have high hopes for the new season, especially given the expertise that Fisher brings to the table. While at Florida State, Fisher won the 2013 national championship with the Seminoles. While the Aggies missed a playoff spot by one position last season, the team managed to finish the season ranked No. 4 nationally after an impressive eight game winning streak.
