RB Leipzig secured a spot in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals this season, but they might have to continue forward in the competition without their main striker Timo Werner. According to Goal.com, Werner doesn’t want to play for RB Leipzig in European competitions anymore due to his previously agreed move to Chelsea.

UEFA recently introduced a plan for UCL 2019/20 season resume that includes crowning a champion through a tournament scheduled for August in Lisbon. However, Werner told Leipzig he won’t stay with the club this long, as he wishes to depart for Chelsea immediately after the Bundesliga season wraps up in late June.

Chelsea previously agreed to pay Werner’s release clause of $60 million, while the 24-year-old striker received a five-year contract with a weekly salary of $250,000. The German striker is now pushing for the deal to be made official as soon as possible, wanting to acclimate to life in England before the 2020/21 Premier League kicks off.

Timo Werner has been RB Leipzig’s main scorer in recent years, netting almost 100 goals in four seasons with the club. He scored 31 goals in this season alone, 25 of which came in Bundesliga and four in Champions League.
