Facing a tough salary cap situation ahead of the 2023 NFL season, the Tennessee Titans decided to make several roster moves on Wednesday. The team released four players, including longtime left tackle Tylor Lewan, wide receiver Robert Woods, kicker Randy Bullock, and inside linebacker Zach Cunningham.

According to ESPN, the Titans were projected to be $23.3 million over the salary cap entering Wednesday. By releasing Lewan, Woods, Bullock, and Cunningham, they saved themselves $37.7 million.

Prior to his release, Lewan was the longest-tenured player on Tennessee’s roster. He made 100 starts for the franchise since being selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft and made the Pro Bowl three times. In recent years, the 31-year-old player struggled with ACL injuries, which limited him to only 20 games since 2020.

Woods joined the Titans in 2022 after a Super Bowl run with the Los Angeles Rams the previous season. The USC product started all 17 games but only managed 53 receptions for a career-low 527 yards and two touchdowns.

Bullock spent the past two seasons with the Titans and was solid when called upon. He made all of his extra-point attempts this past season while going 17 of 20 on field goal attempts.

Finally, Cunningham saw limited playing time since he was claimed off waivers from the Houston Texans late in the 2021 season. He played six games in 2022, contributing with 24 tackles and one pass deflection.
